At the risk of stealing the thread, yes I would happily run a welder, the trouble is finding somebody willing to do it for me. So far I have a quote for £500 which is not going to happen.

Most AW11s seem to be red or white, dont think ive ever spotted a black one.

If you want to get your diff welded then go and ask on Driftworks. Someone will know.

I reckon you might struggle if you did get it welded however. I wonder if lighting up both rear wheels may well be an issue for a MK1 NA. I've only ever had LSD's in SC's which obviously have a lot more torque.

Whilst it's not an issue in my car, I don't have an engine sitting over the rear wheels.

I have asked, problem is nobody has done anything with a rear engined car and wants 2 days labour to have a go.

It would probably be an issue to do a rolling burnout but it spins both up if you go in fast enough

It sounds like a mk1a with a red stripe these were resonably common TBH

But Black mk1b's, that is a different kettle of fish all together, it was an option of around £1500 because I think it was metalic black.

There are around 12 black mk1b's known to the mk1 club.

Gunmetal grey is probably the rarest colour, again £1500 option (UK car) only about 4 or 5 known to exist still.

I had a Light Blue Mica as first owner after demo and IIRC the dealer said it was a £300 option. I have the original sale docs somewhere i will try to dig them out - Although i have seen it referred to as Helios the official Toyota colour was called Light Blue Mica.

Here is my Dads original 1986 black MK1a (with supercharger lights fitted ) which is soon to be mine so I can complete some small but needed jobs on it. It is in very good conidition with no rust etc so heres some pictures :

They are quite rare but I have one and I know someone else who has one in the North West. There are rarer colours around like a dark metallic red, a metallic blue/turquoise, and the two tone Sherwood which is metallic green over champagne. I've never seen any of these colours on the road but have seen a SORNed Sherwood in a barn once, don't know if it was ever repaired.

Did you got to JAE last year, there was, astonishingly, two Dark Mica Red Mk1's on the IMOC stand!

The rear one is the one in the track photo earlier.

Hi Peter, I never said all colour options were silly money ie £1500 but it seems just the Gunmetal grey and metalic black were the most expensive, Red and white appear to be the only colours that were no extra charge, with Ice blue metalic (helious blue) Dark blue metalic (mica blue) and silver metalic costing extra, or so I am led to beleive .

How about this option, UK car, full climate control £1800 although I have only ever seen one UK car with this fitted (not retro fitted aircon at dealer when new) this was a Toyota UK employee car (he paid £1200 for option with his discount seemingly), with full Jap spec climate conrtol with auto and temp setting etc 1st UK owner for 14 years from new then in storage then found by me

I know. I did say it was the one in the earlier track day photo.

They are the only two known mica red ones (officially called medium red pearl) in the country to my knowledge. There may be others but none seen or active in any of the clubs.

I believe there is another (Supercharger) one which had a heavy front ender but was repaired.. one of the long term members may remember it?

I am aware of that one but it's whereabouts is not currently known so I still think my statement stands "There may be others but none seen or active in the clubs".

There was a lot of talk about the crashed one but no one seems to know if it is even still on the road. I know of someone who used to own a mica red SC but we don't even know if that is a third one or the one that had the bad crash.

I still think they are rarer than the black ones which is odd if the black paint was so much more expensive (I cannot see the mica red being more expensive as an option than the more common mica blue so not sure why the red is so rare, they are both lovely colours in my opinion).
