Good work Sam :)

You seem to be making lots of progress in quite a few areas of the car :thumleft:

Thanks Peter, i just read my entire thread back and it really makes me realise how much time i have put into this car... amazing really.

Well at the moment i have a few motivations...

1. Baby due at the end of July
2. We will be moving again in June
3. For the first time in 6 years i have had 5 consecutive weeks at home....

We have been married for 2 and a bit years and the last 5 weeks is the most time we have spent consecutively together! Its all coming to end in the next week of so though, damn work always gets in the way!

Getting excited about driving her again... I have a C320 (v6 diesel) that i have to say is an awesome motor.. more power than i know what to do with, accelerates from 0 to 130 (so i am told) effortlessly (electronically limited to 150), it has so much torque overtaking is mandatory but despite trying its not a car you can throw around, and TBH there is no real sense of speed... getting back low to to the ground, high revving with a little tail action is back at the top of my wish list... Roll on summer.

 :thumleft: :thumleft:

A break through!

I have basically done as many repairs I am going to do for now so after Shultzing both rear arches and along the underside of the sills as well as some wax oil treatment on the front I started to build up the remaining suspension complete with polybushing everything I can!

I also fitted the new rear control arms and painted the rear floor.

There is a lot of body prep left to do but I have decided to get the engine in and running first so wanted to get the car back on it's wheels and get a jet cleaner in the engine bay... It was nice to see the old girl back out in the fresh air!

I fitted the side skirts just to see how it would come together, started to be more happy with the way it looked.

Image

I think can lower the front by another 10mm if needed, the rear will sink more with the engine in so will need to come up I think.

No, i'm not changing the colour of the car and tbh i'm not after a concourse show car, just a tidy looking fun car.

Plus i am running out of time to get this finished and i really don't fancy stripping the engine bay out and then having to put it all back together again.

It is a pretty clean bay so i am just planning on running with it.

Yes, the walls of the bay don't really show much anyway

Your engine looks good judging by the pics i've seen & that's what will show up when you lift the lid :)

Think you mentioned that the garage building you're working in is only a temporary thing :?:

Is that why you're running out of time :?:

Anyway you're getting the car done at the best time of year

If you finish it quick you can enjoy using it in the summer :thumleft:

Is that from Toyota?

If they have the clips in bags can you give me the part numbers?

We moved last October to enjoy a different more rural lifestyle but managed to get pregnant alot quicker then we thought it would happen and because i work all over the country my wife wanted to be closer to her family so that she can get the supported needed when i am not here...

All that means we will be moving again in June... definitely need it completed before then as i definitely won't have the space we have here!

Well I started getting the engine ready to go in!

First job was some new o rings... Dizzy and oil sandwich plate

Then I got the fly wheel clutch and plate on.

I made a trolly from a scrap pallet I rescued from the builders next door!

Image

Car is now jacked right up ready for the engine to go in... I'm just replacing all the hose clips first!

After becoming a member of GT4OC I have found a website in Russian that gives part numbers for the pad kits.

I will try these at Toyota tomorrow.

Good find superred!

let me know how you get on.

Well i started the day with a list for my local friendly auto factor

oil/coolant/battery/plugs/swarfega/oil filter....

I then debated changing the gearbox oil, in the end i thought why not and put 3 litres of gear box oil down...

I am bloody glad i did, i bought this "reconditioned" gearbox about 6 years ago and its been sat wrapped up on my garage floor all that time, well i cracked off the filler bolt then positioned the box aboce an old tray expecting the flood of oil from the drain......

Image

Basically all that came out was a dribble, There was basically no oil in the box so i am really glad i decided to change it!

Anyway 2.6/7 litres later it had nice new stuff in it and the engine was positioned under the car ready to go in.

Image

I was on my own so it was alot of stopping and starting but eventually the engine was in, both mounts bolted up and the rear torque mount for good measure.

Image

Well after the upside of the gearbox oil there was bound to be a low side and unfortunately i managed to damage my nice shiny cam covers!

Image

I was gutted but its all repairable and the focus now is really to get it running and back together so that will have to wait.

No time to work on it until Sunday/Monday now but it was great to see the engine in...
