Another brilliant event in the MR2 challenge series!

Mallory was the first circuit I raced on when I joined the series, and I was looking forward to the return.

Last time out I was on skinny rear tyres, making the back end very skittish

- particularly around the long sweeping Gerards corner.

This time I was allowed to run with the correct size tyres and I've learnt a little bit more racecraft in the meantime.

The results on the track suprised me greatly

- I was over two seconds a lap quicker than I had been previously! I started the qualifying session towards the back of the grid which makes for some great racing

(I love being in the thick of the action) but doesn't necessarily give you the room on the circuit to put in your best times.

Someone

(I forget who) span out after a few laps, meaning the yellows were out for three laps and I was worried they might keep them out for the rest of the session.

Fortunately they went down again and it was flat out until the end.

I knew I'd been quick as I'd managed to catch up and overtake some of the guys who are normally the front runners, but I was amazed to have been placed in pole position beating Steve Vince

(in a mk1 supercharger) by just

.01 of a second.

Sadly, the race didn't go as well for me.

As it was my first ever pole, the pressure to maintain the lead led to a mistake just half way around the first lap.

I span at the esses and ended up at the back of the grid.

I fought valiantly to regain as many positions as I could, but as I ahd in qualifying earlier I overcooked it going into Gerards and ended up in the kitty litter.

This time, there was no getting out though.

So my first pole and my first DNF.

I proved that I

(and my mk2) have the pace, now we just need to work on the consistency.

I got the fastest lap in the race too

- this time by over half a second.

Bring on Silverstone!

Rogue

PS.

For the love of god

- someone please enter another mk2!!
