KENT COAST RUN....THE AFTERMATH AND REVIEWS...

Post by g14nnh »

Had a great day to sum it up, met some new people off here, weather was great, the route was fun with a fair few twists and turns etc..WELL DONE AND A BIG THANKS TO THE ORGANISERS =D>

Just to give an insight to those who couldnt make it heres how my day went.. (a kinda minature gumball for me lol)

1)Drive 60 miles just to get to the start point.

2)ate a pokey cheeseburger at the half way point which has now gave the ''brad pitts''

3)nearly got T-BONED on a roundabout by ''chris aka rustyboy'' as i pull out on him coz i spotted mikej...whoooops 8-[

3)managed to run over a pigeon and hit it square on with my bumper and possibly rad ... = the smell of what i can only describe as ''crispy aroamatic duck in my car for the next 10 minutes while the pigeon bits are gradually blown off and leaving a trail of feathers in my wake.

4)battery level gets extremely low (reading about 4 volts) all my electrics slow right down and guess what it starts to rain... no real indicators or wipers functioning properly leavin me with a blurred windscreen full of rain and unable to clear it ](*,)

5)reach the final checkpoint and car breaks down. wont start..flat battery..and knackered regulator/alternator still 60 miles away from home :-k

6)call RAC out to get me sorted so i can get home \:D/

all in all depsite my car problems had an enjoyable day and will defo be up fot the next one,

none of the MK1's were superchargers mate i don't think.

never underestimate the ability of a MK1  only people who have driven/owned one know that!

great day! glad i went, backroads were probably a bit....narrow.... sometimes but after the halfway point they were great with clear see for damn miles turns and LONG straights! had to back off from tapping the back end's of the NA's that always seemed to be in front of me! get a turbo conversion you MK2 NA drivers! :D

the MK2 handles great, got to push it a bit and find that it's ability to be pretty damn good and the power of the turbo is great for leaving the corners. my MK2 turbo proving again to me that it's not a tight a handler as the MK1 but it's not all that far off

and the supra's! what can i say sweet sounding or what 8)

A great day indeed and always good to catch up with the old and to meet the new members :D

I hope things work out ok for you Glenn

As for the MK2's not handling as well as the MK1's Chris. As I said to you before, you really need to put a little money in the right places with the MK2's and then they begin to shine :D I'll take you out in mine the next time I see you so you can brown my seats again!

Hat's off and a big thanks to all those that made the day possible. I'm already looking forward to the next one =D>

Really enjoyed the run. Stage 1 and 2 was nice and sedate, but was with the MK1 guys on the final leg and they were flying. Backed of as we came accross a recently gritted road surface  and 2 bends later we were lost

I got a few pics here... http://photobucket.com/albums/b38/kentrun/

Well done to the event organaisers and everyone who turned up. We need to rename Mike as Justin (time)

nope the one right at the front was actually me  and its mica blue

well i organized the route an use most of them roads everyday so i know them some what, and the 2 behind me were trusting i knew the road and if if i could do it so could they:) just wante to up the pace for those that wanted it --- i still got there  first good ol mk1's, next year will have the twin supercharger so goo luck then

glad everyone enjoyed it and thanks for the comments
do not forget to come next year but will stop at fish and chips in stead of pub but will ask what people want closer to the time -
hey i had 99 octane fuel in the mk1 with a janspeed exhaust with next to no baffels we reakon hence why is was one of the loudest there with flames comming out the back and the silver supra runs around 740 bhp an the green around 400 bhp with 890lbft torque

hope to see you there and the brighton run next year
pete

ps glad the broken one got fixed an everyone got home
pps i was in the yellow t shirt so everyone coul see me
