[Mk2] [Turbo] SidewaysSi Upgrades & Remap - 555bhp 510ftlbs

Post by Peter Gidden »

Following Simon's class win and class record at last year's Brighton National Speed Trials, it was decided to upgrade the chargecooler system and ECU just to ensure we saw off the competion this year.

So, we installed the latest single pass Precision chargecooler, high flow pump, threw out the original coil/igniter in favour of COPs, and wired in a Syvecs ECU from Ryan at 2BarTuning.

A few hours with Ryan, and the first session produced 555bhp, and a fab. 510ftlbs torque.

Click the link below for photos and video of Simon's class winning performance at Brighton last Saturday.

mightly lovely car, but is it not odd that peak power is at like 6k rpm???

surely beasts of this hp peak and hold at over 7k rpm?? torque takes a big dive as well, but consdiering thats 510lb, lol, its still holding a ton of torque till the end .:eye: :thumleft: ......

congrats!

i take this is at 2bar or something similar?

GREAT VID!

Thanks Jim. This is only the first mapping session by Ryan on new ECU. Plus no experimenting with cam timing yet. Previous max. torque on PFC was 455fltlbs.

As a point aside, producing the power lower down is not a bad thing, saves engine wear. Thinks GT1 Corvettes regularly beating Ferraris at Le Mans... Same engine size, but about 1800rpm difference in red line...

They wouldn't believe it anyway!

They wont map above 1.2bar on pump regardless of setups!

Thanks for your remarks everyone.

I may have granny shifted 1st to 2nd a bit as you can see by the nose dipping. There wasn't really any need for gearbox breaking shifts on the day.

Santa Pod is on the cards, When I eventually get the super upgraded Driveshafts. :thumleft:
