Picked up my car last Tuesday and ever since I got it the sensor in the engine bay for ambient temp.

had been playing up.

After a long run

(during which the car would be fine) i'd stop and then when I restarted the car, the sensor light would come up on the dash.

I'd taken a quick look at the engine bay and played with the sensor and concluded that it must be either a dodgy sensor or dodgy wiring.

Unfortunately, every time I either unplugged the sensor or opened/shut the engine bay, the light would go out.

Now there was good reason for this, but it wasn't the reason I thought it was.

Anyway, took the car up to Rogue on Monday night and within 5 mins they had found the real problem.

Nothing to do with the sensor.

It would appear that the

"professional" alarm installer

(who incidentally provided me with a Thatcham certificate for insurance purposes) had put the main wiring loom for the alarm straight
through
the fan blades! Well, it only took the guys at Rogue 1/2 hour to solve the problem and everything is fine now, thankfully!

I sent a copy of the bill to the garage I got the car from and pointed out exactly what the cause was.

To be fair to them, they honestly thought the problem was of thier own making in that they'd had the engine cleaned and de-gunked and figured they'd broken the sensor or got damp in the connections.

Got an email back from them yesterday and a phone call today, they have sacked the alarm installer

=D> and they're going to refund the cost of the repair to me

(as they had said they would all along).

So, all credit to Car Equality for a decent service and for sacking a shoddy workman, and a warning to anyone getting an alarm system fitted.

.

.

keep you're eye on the guy doing the work!
