Swapping my motorbike for a Mk1......

Post by Kieran Williams »

Hi folks, long time since i posted on here but thought i would share my dilema with you all....
I have had my Yamaha fazer 6 for a little while now and to be honest although it is cheap to run and gets me through traffic it does not give me a huge amount of pride.
My old Mk1's however caused me to smile every time i saw them...i kinda miss it but is it a case of heart ruling head?

What do ya think?

It does make a sense to keep the more modern mode of transport but as it's really a toy i think it should at least be great fun...the bike is just medeocre :-k

not sure what your fz6 is worth but there are tons of cool bikes out there for no money, £1,200 will get you a very tidy yzf 750 if you need more bike than that i'd like to know why?
but if you want a MK1 then you want a MK1!
I have both :thumleft:

chop the bike in and get something fun (I run an XT660 low mileage X supermoto versions can be picked up for around 2K, but a '90s sports bike can be had for around £1.200 down to what you want a bike for) then get a decent MK1, best of both worlds
I also have a daily drive car too and am looking for a classic 2 stroke project bike

I'd be having a look at this
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1989-TOYOTA-MR2-B ... 3f0bb5e4e3
sounds like HG gone not as big a concern as some would have you believe, could be a bargain

what bike do you fancy?
edit just reread the ad. he's asking £400 have his hand off at that, subject to a viewing

Hi Kevin
Have you seen what tidy low mileage RD350LCs sell for these days

Mind you, I still think these are the purest form of 2 wheeled road transport for fun and mischief.

I've ridden loads of road bikes and driven loads of cars even trackday open wheeler cars and nothing ever put a grin on my face like a 350LC.

Wish I was 18 again.... :)

Haven't seen one of those TDRs for maybe 20yrs... I remember that they used to really howl when revved.

I had a dirt bike converted for road use and that was great fun too.

All I've got left of the original 350LC is the sales brochure but I've got a fair few (expired) engine bits from the dirt bike and the 350YPVS

One of the things that attracted me to the mk1 MR2 was the combination of the handling balance and the revvy engine. Not in the same class for grin factor as the 350LC but still lots of fun.
