Engine / Trans Jack

Post by Chunky Monkey »

Just reading this thread:

http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/conversio ... rsion.html

of a nutter dropping a LS1 V8 into the back of a Porsche 996, & theres mention of a Engine & Gearbox jack cradle, that looks like a great idea - especially for us, basicly they've adapted a motercycle jack to pickup on various points on the engine block & gearbox casing making removal much easier/ safer
Heres some pics:

As I say looks like a great idea!

Whilst not quite that sophisticated I do have a pair of nice wooden trolleys I made earlier in the year, one supports a 4A-GE the other a C5x gearbox. but they're matched up so that you can use them as a pair to wheel the whole assembly around. Makes fitting or removing a gearbox from an engine (out of the car) a bit easier too.

Will try and get some pics up to demonstrate if I can get enough space on the drive to get them out.
