I have been looking at some GRP wings as they have the vent to allow back pressure to escape from the wheel arch.
My issue is that I may go with 18" wheels all round and 8Js on the front are known to foul slightly on the wheel arch. However arch rolling will cure this but has anyone also tried to replicate the same "effect" on fibre glass arches by trimming them etc and if so what was the finish like.
All answers/advice appreciated, there are a set posted on eBay
Thanks,
John

Hi
You will have to lose the wheel arch liner if you fit vented wings and want
to use the vent as intended.
I had some of these and they do look nice when fitted.

If you're after vented fg wings, I have a pair that i'd sell for £100 delivered.
Been test fitted and were pretty good. They look like they're already moulded as if they've been rolled - although I couldn't say for sure.
Only selling as I decided it's too much bother to remove my bonded side skirts in order to fit them !

Hi John
If the vented wing is exactly the same profile as a stock one bar the vent you should be fine with an 18" 8J alloy. Certainly not had any issues with mine except on absolute full lock where it just touches the inner liner.
Never had a problem rubbing the arch and I run 30/35mm lowering springs too.

I am intersted Gaz, I have seen your earlier posts on the OC. I am having the tin worm on the rear arch treated this month and want to get these sprayed and fitted at the same time. I could collect when I come and see Kelvin [Kayjay0_7]if it doesn't work out with 3sgtemechanic.
Thanks for all your advice guys , it seems like they do not need any mods but I need to decide if the arch liner is either removed or modded. So good news all round, I'll pick a set up from fleabay unless anyone else can recommend a good supplier..

No probs Buddy. I'm glad Gaz made a sale out of it.
Re: Fibre glass [GRP] wings can they be modified to fit larger wheels?
you can cut a hole like i did at the top of the wheel arch to allow the air to escape or cut slats out

That's sounds good Rob. I just need to find some reasonably priced GRP wings to cut. You have any ideas on a supplier that does GRP?
What I ideally want is the moulding to have a space for the rub strips to fit [not a moulded profile where it should be] and like Lee has said, they should fit because the steel wings need the arch lip for strength but GRP should not require this.
And also what I would really like is the price Gaz wants fort the pair. but that's just hoping.
