[Mk2] [Turbo] Japspeed exhaust users

Post by garry goodall »

thinking of buyig a japspeed exhaust, has anyone had any problems with these, especially with the low down back box causing handling/aerodynamic issues at higher speeds, is the build quality of them good also?

Thanks :thumleft:

Hi mate,

I had one on my car for 2 years. No problems at all with it. Got caked in road crap and came good with some metal polish everytime. Nice exhaust, and sounds great with a decat :thumleft:

a bit of a lottery, really. Mine didnt fit properly on one side, (tailpipe touched the bumper) so some spacing on the hanger (like 3-4cm) had to be done. Overall good value for the money, mine cost 80 notes on ebay. :)

thanks for the reply guys, was hoping to bet one of ebay today and just before the end of the auction it went up to £200+, so £80 is quite reasonable isnt it :thumleft:

i have one on mine, fits good, sounds nice and throaty, cant complain for the money, however Ive just bought a fjitsubo legalis r as im after something more quiet for my early starts and the oem + look I like, so mine should be up for sale in a week or 2 when I get my new one.

i was lucky, the ebay auction was pickup only and local to me. Usually the local pickup items don't fetch as high prices as the one from sellers willing to ship.

I had one and was excellent, fitted straight on, good looks and no handling issues.

There is one on ebay now very little use, £125.00

Just type in MR2 Japspeed. Enjoy.
Was MR2Turbo1991, but now changed name.

I had one and I hated it! Was terribly loud and annoying! My first mod on the car was to get it off

I'm the same as Stevie. I have one on mine, was on when I bought it. Can't wait to get rid of it. It's so droney on long journeys and it rattles door knockers on idle! Very deep sound. For the money though there's not much better out there.

Cleans up nice, fairly cheap to buy, looks good, sounds nice however can get noisy with windows down or you just don't want to get noticed,at that point I put the bungs in and sounds like a standard exhaust.

That all said if I had the money I would buy a berk.

Had a berk on the last one, wasn't much quieter imo, maybes slightly less drone but not much.

id just get a propper jap exhaust

when these first came out they were £100 brand new, delivered! Now they are over £200, which imo cant be justified when you can buy a good condition second hand jap exhaust... Better quality/better sound/tested flow....

theyre awful imo.

gave me a ear problem. Removed it after a few weeks.

its a cheap system, the blitz NUR is probably louder, but a cleaner sound.

do look good though.
