Genuine Factory built 2ZZ Monocraft GT300 MR-S

Post by ilogik »

Genuine Monocraft GT300 MR-S

2000 Toyota MR-S factory built Monocraft gt300 car 1 of 100 in circulation. Chassis has covered 77k KM’s (46k miles) whilst the 2zz + gearbox are from a 40k Corolla Tsport.

The 2ZZ takes the mr-s from 138 bhp car to a more lively 190 bhp car that rev's to 8.5k acting in a similar way as Vtec, the sound as you hit lift is something special. Handling compared to a stock bodied roadster is far greater, with the wider stance mixed with BC adjustable coilovers and the 17x8's you feel confident to go into corners without even the slightest of twitching.

The car is beautiful and very unique, you will probably see more Ferrari's or Lambo's on the road than you will one of these, it's a chance to own a piece of Toyota's racing history.

Mot: April 2011
Tax: August 09

Engine + Transmission:

Engine swap carried out by Rogue Motor sport

6-speed box
Che 2ZZ swap header
MWR custom oil dipstick
MWR Passenger side engine mount
Blitz LM induction kit
Apexi Exhaust
Main cat has been cut out and a replacement pipe fitted

Wheels/Suspension:

17x7 et 0 17x8 et 0 Work Meister SP1’S built by works for Toyota/Monocraft, these are tailored to the Monocraft specifically
Works alloy wheel nuts
Rays alloy valve stems

BR racing coilovers

Body:

Genuine monocraft bodykit + Hardtop to match, car is painted a bayside blueish colour but unsure on what it actually is.

Condition is ok if you don’t mind stone chips everywhere, the best bits of paint are the hardtop and the engine bay, these were painted when I bought the car.

Interior: Interior is stock in good condition give or take a few scratches on plastic

Car is fitted with a cat 1 alarm and immobilizer so you can sleep easy at night.

Bad bits: Stone chips, dirty softtop that looks tatty and has a tear just above the plastic glass, but does not leak. Personally I was planning on removing the softtop all together.

Car was bought as a restoration project but its ended up costing me far more than I had planned, and I have generally got fed up with being broke. I love the car, I don’t actually want another car, but I have to think what I want and that is to move out and get a place with my gf .

Having spent near enough 9k,already to get it in the condition id want it i.e spotless paint refurbish wheels powerfc im looking at near enough another 5k+ whilst the value of the car will not increase so have decided to just buy something cheaper and newer leave the tweaking to someone who will appreciate it more.

I have spent near enough 9k putting it back on the road, im looking for 7.000, this is the chance to own 1 of 2 genuine monocraft built cars in the country.

Lotus supercharger would make it a beast

Just bought a bigger intake for it due to the 2.5 inch one being under specification.

might be for the right money :P Has undergone a fair few changes since this was posted.

Slightly more updated version :P

new interior
Image

soft top has now gone, fully adjustable rear suspension components, 100 cel sports cat and front end has stone chip removed and fibreglass restored due to it looking like it was raped by a machine gun :)

Rear end of the car still needs painting, plenty of stone chips to count if you like that sort of thing :P

New induction kit/spark plugs/brand new conti sport contact tyres all round.

Original 100 cars were built for JDM market only and were not allowed to be exported for sale. So all should be RHD.

As for it being for sale, money talks, in the words of Jerry Meguire, SHOW ME THE MONEY :P

How exactly did you remove the soft top? Assuming you didnt just unbolt it? Pics of the damage?

Keep being tempted by this myself, going to be 2zz-ing my MK3 soon but this would be a nice buy......

as said to surfer dude, if someone is there with the money and makes me the right offer i might take it, but atm struggling to find anything I like, have looked at all types of things and nothing really floats my boat, have even gone off RX7's.

Keep finding myself looking at Audi a4 estates  think there is something wrong with me!

*edit*

Totally forgot to reply to the original question, removed the soft top, most the brackets are still in place along with fixture points incase i ever wanted to revert back.

Due to the mounting points on the soft top not allowing for removal, I had to use an angle grinder and just cut off the mounting points that were needed and then re assembled.

If you are genuinly interested, bad bits of the car can be found here, area's o stone chips, scratches ect.

As mentioned to surfer dude trying to crack the light front end at speeds, seems to be a common problem, have had a few suggestions on tweaking the toe settings in the rear.
