old post but to finish it, it was'nt fixed, problem was the thermostat, hence why when he left it idleing for ages it got up to temp, and ran right but normal driving the stat was staying open that little to much and the car was always running slightly below proper running temp, which was also compounded with the dial kit it slighty offset on the temp gauage so looks halfway on the gauge but the needle isnt horizontal like it should be.
