As for an odd place Pete, I'm glad there seems to be other cars in a way getting this problem and its not just mine!

It seems like either at the factory or when the window was removed previously, the area wasnt prepped for putting the window in.

as water has got into the edges and bubbling out!

I had the worst night so far on the car

(read: this close to having a fit!) The welding was an absolute nightmare! I thought I would weld with the patch underneath the original metalwork

(ie as a lap weld) but I kept on droping the patch down the inside of the wing only to fish it out with an extendable magnet about 20 times!

Eventually I gave in and welded over the top.

To make matters worse it wasnt my best welding either

! Still after a lot of grinding and filler I dont think it will be obvious.
