tein super street far too hard!

Post by mr2daj »

i got tein super street coilovers on om my rev 3 tuppy and there fat too hard for everyday use! i dont mean the dampers are too hard. its the actual spring rate. if i soften the dampers any more i just get loads of bounce. do you think anyone would be interested in swapping for like some standard rev 5 suspension? would have put in the for sale but not allowed

failing that anyone know if i can get different rate springs? what rate are they from tein?

You sure theyre super streets not HA's? I had super streets on my old rev 3 turbo, found them to be very forgiving. I have a rev4 at the moment on standard set up and they dont feel much different to what the super streets did to be honest :?

How low is your car. You can't have the best of both worlds, some folk want a soft ride but expect tarmac hugging undersides also. I've found superstreets massively better than uprated shocks and lowering springs.

ok thanks mate.

my car is pretty low but i would not say slammed... to be honest i am not that fussed about it being on its ar$e.. would rather keep my spine whilst on the road. when i want bone shattering i have a race car.

You can buy different spring rates. Drop me a line at the office if you want more details.

i can confirm they are defo tein super street coilovers and i have found the problem. some noob has lowered it so much that when the car is on the deck there is about 20mm travel if that before i hit the bump stops. some people should not be allowed to work on cars!

to be fair i have superstreets and there set at the tein factory hight. im pretty much on the softest setting possible aswell and there really stiff. far from standard shocks, i love it but i can see why alot of people couldn't put up with them it feels like its about to break everytime i hit a pothole

I have superstreets on my Rev1 N/A, and on the softest setting they are about the same as just some lowering springs, but on the hardest settings they are solid.
I honestly can't fualt them at all, ive had them on the car a year and they've been perfect, although with 17" wheels you're not going to have a comfortable ride

well mine was set so low i was hitting the bump stops an the slightest of bumps.. raised it up today and its a different car. reels really good. softer than i expected to be fair. who in there rite mind would set them as low as they go??? they literally had about 20mm of travel. think i will be keeping the super streets after all

spring into action

I fitted 170lb x 10inch fronts, get them from Gaz.

Ask for 2.5inch I/D range they were around about £40 a pair, they have tons of spring rates and lenghts in stock.

My rears are TEIN 280lb tapered but cost TEIN prices £80 odd a pair +. you will have to find an official dealer to make an order, and there's a no return policy even if they get it wrong!, which is why I went to GAZZARDS for the fronts!

If Rogue has the correct springs in stock, I would go to him and save the hastle of working rates and lenghts etc yourself unless you have previous experience on coilovers.

Yours will probably have been wound off for storage, hence the initial low ride height.

no i have just bought the car, was sliightly crash dammaged. not suprised as it was set so low it was near undrivable. all is good now though. spring rates are not too bad after all. was just the fact it was on its bump stops that was the problem. thanks for all the help though.

Glad you sorted it. Like I said, I found my old superstreets suprisingly supple
