power steering fault

power steering fault

hello hope you can help? i have a G-Limitted J 1991 and the power steering light has come on and no power steerring it was fine 2 weeks back when i used the ar last but when i went to use it to day the power steerring light is on and now pwoer steering, any body know what this might be?

Sounds like your power steering driver or relay have given up the ghost dude, there located in the front trunk, take out the spare wheel and plastic cover there located at the top right there will be a black box with a barrel type relay get the code off the top and post it I mite have the one you need spare in my garage :)
stock isnt that soup or something.....?

Try turning the ignition on and off quickly, about 20 times. That should free the relay up if it's stuck (very common issue by the way).

just did this and gave the relay a bit of a tap and its is woking :D

i had this problem wiv mine a couple of years ago... same fix cured it and i aint had any other problems wiv it since.. touch wood... :thumleft:

Same here, mine did it around FOUR YEARS ago and not done it since.

I used to think this 'fix' was a quick & temporary bodge and you'd need to replace the relay to properly fix it - not so :thumleft:

My Power steering packed up today! On top of everything else (including current coolant mystery) i was gutted! So i pulled over in maccy Ds to have a doule cheese burger cause i was feeling sorry for myself, got IMOC up on the phone and found this thread! Tried to 20 times thing and it sorted it! Made my day haha :thumleft:
