my rev 2 turbo track car

Post by aaron dean »

ok so ive had my mr2 for around a year now so thought id better get some pictures etc to share with you guys, basically i bought the car in standard form for £2500 and soon got the bug to start changing things, i began with the usual bits, exhaust, lowering, filter, EBC and SMIC. i soon got the urge to do some trackdays and was pleased with the car overall, i got some carbotech pads, toyo r888, stripped the car out, fitted racetech gauges an OMP carbonfibre seat along with some other bits and bobs.

this is the car when i used it on the road:

sorry about the poor pics i cant find any better ones lol!

anyway after some heat issues i decided on a BMIC to deal with the heat caused by trackdays the the summer months, im part way through with the install now, heres some pics of the progress so far:

next is a rev 3 conversion which i am currently sourcing parts for along with an apexi power fc to try and gain some more reliability and simplicity!

ill keep things updated with progress of the bmic and rev3 conversion as things move along, also planning a custom lightweight exhuast system to work around the bmic scoop

a quick update, hopefully get some pics up tomorrow, the intercooler and all pipework is finished and painted, really happy with the result, ive also started a new fuel system with bosch pump, sard regulator and swirl pot to reduce risk of fuel surge on track. The exhaust is in its early stages still but will get some pictures up of progress tomorrow, overall im pretty happy with how neat and tidy its all looking. Once this little lot is nipped in the bud its going to be apexi power fc and a hybrid turbo of some sort to hopefully produce a very fast spool up and around 350bhp all the way to the rev limit, any thoughts on which turbo to use guys as im really not sure??

*Any* hybrid turbo is likely to increase spool up time - for track work I wouldn't go past a stage 1 upgrade. A CT20b from a rev 3 car would be the best budget solution for your car. Ideally consider something in the Garrett GT28 series if you can afford it.

thanks for the reply mate, already running a ct20b (sorry should have said) but still seems a little laggy so will look into the garrett gt28 if thats what you think :thumleft:

im also hoping the apexi power fc will improve spool up??

heres some pics of the echaust system..... and yes it does give me the horn lol!!
