Interesting subject :)

There are numerous figures that get banded about. The most common one is 1280kg and the general consensus is that that's for a tintop turbo. Some spec cars (n/a, G spec) might be lighter, some (tbar GT spec) might be heavier. There are some figures from the original sales brochures from some areas the car was sold in, but this doesn't cover all the options.

There's a rolling road day at the end of the month that I'm organising where some of us are going to a weighbridge to find out :thumleft:

Surrey Rolling Road. J12 of the M25. They have a dyno dynamics system which has a reputation for high accuracy.

1210 kgs for a full standard 1994 gts turbo rev3 (weight was needed for french homologation, and have to be verified on a official machine).

1198 kgs with decat and custom exhaust.

my mate got his weighted before he stripped it out and it came to 1240kg with him sitting in it, and half a tank, so thats less than 1150kg. strip the car down and it should weigh less than 1100kg.

i asked him why the listed figue of ~1250 is so far off and he said that figure is often the predicted weight from the design phase, not the finished article. at least back then when design for lightness was not such a big concern. also theres a blanket weight for all models, they dont give different ones for turbo/NA, hardtop/tbar etc.

doesnt surprise me really. it doesnt make sense to me how a small 2 seater with 17 years less safety weight can be a similar weight to my 3 series.
