Hi

Yeah Basically Turn on your PS3 and a time error means your ps3 has turned back the clock to early 2000 if you connect to PSN when your ps3 retrives your Trophy data

ITS ALL GONE DONT TURN ON YOUR PS3 UNLESS YOU WANT TO LOOSE IT ALL

Any single player games that have trophys you cant play either

Turned on half an hour ago and got this, pretty huge f-up on psn networks part i'd say....people are going to be massivly peeved if they'v lost all there trophys i'd imagine!

The PSN seemed to start kicking everyone off about 11pm last night, Something to do with the last firmware and the 28 day month ???

I had the error pop up but still had PSN access ..... Then i did a restart

All the info isn't correct,

1 lad in works machine was dated 2341 this morning

Mine went back to 1999 and Gravity Crash loaded which rules out the (PSN titles, Single Player & Trophy games don't work) Just the Online was ghosted out last night but it played.

Slim's are ok from what i can find out mate.

Major problem fro sony this is as it's on the hardware not the os so will need a fw update to download or "MAYBE" it will right itself at midnight????

Thing is if it needs a fw update then how can a lot of people get it if you can't login?

I've not heard reports about losing game saves though and trophies are stored on the ps network too so a quick re-synch should sort them out.

It's like the millenium bug has caught up with us 10 years too late!

EDIT: just read that you don't need to be signed in to dl updates so all might be well soon enough

As you may be aware, some customers have been unable to connect to the PlayStation Network today. This problem affects the models other than the new slim PS3.

We believe we have identified that this problem is being caused by a bug in the clock functionality incorporated in the system.

Errors include:

* The date of the PS3 system may be re-set to Jan 1, 2000.
* When the user tries to sign-in to the PlayStation Network, the following message appears on the screen; “An error has occurred. You have been signed out of PlayStation Network (8001050F)”.
* When the user tries to launch a game, the following error message appears on the screen and the trophy data may disappear; “Failed to install trophies. Please exit your game.”
* When the user tries to set the time and date of the system via the Internet, the following message appears on the screen; “The current date and time could not be obtained. (8001050F)”
* Users are not able to playback certain rental video downloaded from the PlayStation Store before the expiration date.

We hope to resolve this problem within the next 24 hours. In the meantime, if you have a model other than the new slim PS3, we advise that you do not use your PS3 system, as doing so may result in errors in some functionality, such as recording obtained trophies, and not being able to restore certain data.

As mentioned above, Please be advised that the new slim PS3 is not affected with this error. We are doing our best to resolve the issue and do apologise for any inconvenience caused.

You can set the clock manually and it accepts the date and time but still won't log-in BUT if switch off to stand-by mode the clock freezes at that time and doesn't count up (do they still use battery back-up for internal clocks or have we moved on???) as that would indicate the finger pointing at possibly a harware problem.

Really, who cares? So you can't use your console for a whole day or two, it's really not that big a deal. Some people are making out like this is the end of Sony and now they've got their own RROD-sized balls up, but it's really a non-issue.

Okay, so maybe I'm biased as my PS3 only gets switched when I want to watch a BD or get hammered and load up SingStar, but if it was my beloved 360 I still wouldn't care. Even if my gamerscore was reset to zero and all my saves were wiped, it really wouldn't be the end of the world.
