Still three red rings!
Oh well, nothing ventured, nothing gained. (USed arctic silver compund)
Off to ebay I go
Did you over heat it AFTER applying the x clamp fix?
This is important as it re sets the motherboard sodler points.
After fitting x clamp;
put it all back together bar the casing.
unplug fans, power on and leave on with the 3 flashing lights until 2 flashing red lights appear.
leave for 10 mins then retry - should power on OK.

Nice
Hmmmm.....
I'll give that a go.
As for the X Clamp fix? I basically removed the mainboard from the device, clamps, heatsinks.. the lot and applied artic paste. Put everything back together again. The error code is an odd one but I'll do as you've suggested.
FIngers crossed
If not, I have new stickers on the way

Re: XBOX 360RROD
yeh give it another go if you are getting the 3 red lights still.
Also its important to fully clean the cpus (so they shine) I used white spirit and a jay cloth and same goes for the underneath of the heat syncs before appying new paste/grease.
Check this for fitting instructions;
http://team-xecuter.com/ck3/rrodpro.htm
This is what the cheaper non - Xecuter kits (ebay) are missing;
The #1 cause is the motherboard warps when overheating, so the solder joints break with the memory modules. What we have made is a specially formulated heatpad with a high K value and cut to a precise shape and thickness so that once fitted the memory chips should "fix" themselves without causing any damage.
So if you xclamp kit fails you might wanna try the newer version Xecuter kit for 15 quid.

Nice
Hmmm.
I used pure alcohol which was fun but I'm sure that they weren't as shint as the pics in that link. I'll have another go as the instructions and this kit do seem to be very nice

I suppose it's worth £15 and if I fail, I'll cry and probably try to send it back using the stickers.
Thank you VERY much for the info..

Re: XBOX 360RROD
yep that kit in the link is the one i have just used.
No worries - all the best with it. Dont give up!
P.s I sent my 1st xbox back to MS with no stick at all LOL. If you like to change your faceplates alot the stickers become worn and flake off so dont be too worried about that.
They sent me out a brand new one and an extra HDD too by mistake

sweet
glad it worked OK, just dont panic if it does rrod one more time after 20 mins or so - just one last over heating is needed (wait until there are 2 flashing red lights instead of 3) and leave to cool.
I just ordered another kit for my old mans xbox as his has the same prob, I have my work cut out for me xmas day
