yes mate it should be the longer one of the two types of filter, the old part numbers no longer exist,all turbo mr2s have the longer toyota filters :thumleft: its only the celica st165 that didnt, :thumleft:

yep it does ,,, then something about exclu celica st something lol ,, thats alright then thought they given my the wrong one phew :thumleft:

yea its says Excludes Celica ST165

All I can think of is that your getting mistaken with filters from other manufacturers such as Bosch who do things a different way but even then you will notice the bypass valve is at the top of the filter not the base.

I should have taken the time to look at the bypass function in the toyota genuine part ( from your original thread ), I'm pretty certain these dont exist in the non OEM brands ... with the ones my supplier give me... !! :-k

Well call it a draw then! LOL ;-')

In your defence if you look at diagrams for a bosch filter they show what appears to be an anti drain valve that looks a bit like a pressure relief valve so easy mistake. The key to understanding them is that oil goes up the outside of the filter and down through the middle - loads pf folk assume its the other way which makes it all confusing.

I suggest you did what I did and get your hacksaw out and cut one up - theyre a lot more complicated than they look :-)
