A bit off topic but when do you think the next version of xbox will be released, 5 years, 10 years?

HD seems to be moving so fast at the moment that the potential for a next gen console would be huge, Ps3 has a big advantage due to the blu ray storage. Im now trying to imagine what it would be like.

Xbox 360 launch date (US) was November 2005 so nearly 4 years ago.

As an example, the PS2 launched in Oct 2000 and the PS3 was March 2007

Use 7 years as a lifespan and you could be looking at 2012?

The difference is, the PS2 is still supported, where as Microstoft dropped the Xbox almost as soon as the 360 arrived. Wonder if they'll do the same with the next console?

Or will there be another console from either manufacturer?

Sounds fair.

Bill gates and microsoft will defo bring out another console, the game industry is huge and getting alot bigger. A friends son is currently appling for jobs in the game design and programme market and there is load of jobs out there with some big name developers in there.

They have always claimed that this generation will last alot longer than previos ones but i guess well have to see.


Natal is gonna be the next big thing though and alot of people seem to think that MS will tout that as a new console rather than just an accesory (sp?).

I doubt that Natal and Sony's thing (whatever they call it) is going to be as revolutionary as either they or people think. Unless they can do something genuinely interesting with it, then people are going to get as bored of playing the same old games without needing to use a pad as they are currently with the Wii.

I do think the leap forward between the PS2 & Xbox to PS3 and 360 has been bigger than any previous one. Could be a good reason to give these a longer shelf life.

As for no new consoles, there's been rumours that the next gen may not need a console in your house.

This is a good thing. I would rather a game ran at a smooth frame rate than running slower and jerky but with flash graphics.
