Rescued from the scrap yard!

Post by Dan LB »

This was a very impulsive buy the day i got paid, i have been looking round for a cheapy little project that required a little work over the summer.

This turned up at a salvage yard a couple of miles away looking sorry for itself, i had a quick glance over it and i felt that there was a nice little car behind the filth and battle scars!

This is a G-Limited was imported in 2003 and has 180000kms/110000 miles on the clock. From what i can see it has uprated front suspension, the later 15" alloys front strut brace, t bar roof with th MR2 marketing slogan on it and a half leather interior!

I managed to get it for £500 with free delivery, i couldn't leave it sitting there!

I've had it a week now and i've spent a good 30/40 hours cleaning it up to a respectable standard to see what lies beyond the filth

I'll be starting the repairs in a couple of weeks when i get paid again, this is what i spent £500 on though:

Fair play mate. :thumleft: Interior looks ok and will come up nicely no doubt.

Are you going to carry out all the panel repair work yourself or what are you plans?

It's come up ok so far, it could do with another going over really as i'm not 100% happy with it, but it's a fair improvement :)

I've e-mailed Chelmsford Accident Repair Centre some photos of the damage and have asked for a quote for pulling the rear back out and repairing the rear wing.

If it's reasonable then i'll have them pull the damage out and i'll panel the car up ready for the vic check!

Plans aren't too exciting really, just to get it looking respectable and perhaps rev 3 + rear lights and enjoying it over the summer. If it turns out to be a good runner then i'll be keeping it and rethinking my plans over the winter for it :D

Good work. Didn't notice it was a t-bar initially.

p.s. if you're after some rev3 lights and centre panel I have a set for sale. :D
