Tbh, always thought it too childish, looks like the novelty is wearing off now.

to be honest there probably not too fussed.

the wii did 10 x better than they thought it would in the first place about im pretty sure well see a wii 2 before we see the other next gen consoles.

with there price point its not quite so painful if they launch sooner.

plus they need a HD console with a HDD these days....

Nah its not the end of the road just yet, just look at the DS and how many tweaks and changes that has gone through - they will do exactly the same with the Wii. There will be the Wii lite, they will be avilable in different colours, then they will do a Wii(i) which has some other stuff to it etc just to prolong its product lifecycle.

I've never understood why any one would buy a tweaked version of something they already have.

Same with the slim line PS2's etc. It doesnt do anything different except take up less space. Unless you have OCD issues about space it's just wasting money.

Any one see the gadget show last night?
They compared the Gameboy & DS to see which was the most important as a gadget. The Gameboy had that licked before they even pleaded their cases. It was the first proper hand held game machine and without it, we may never have seen the rest, which were all vastly better but just evolutions of that.

Tbh, never seen the attraction to the DS myself but thats another matter.

If your bored look into the theory behind Product Lifecycle and Consumer Adoption Rates; gives you an insight into why they do revise product models. In basic terms they want to milk every last drop from their product, by revising it, changing the pricing etc they can stall the products lifecycle so it sells for longer, attract new customers and keep the product returning on their investment.

If you'd bought a brand new mr2 back in the day and 2 years later they brought a new one out, would you buy it? Bare in mind it'll be 99% the same as what you have?

Strange you mention that, but I looked at a red rev4 at the (then) Toyota dealership on the West Road in Newcastle (years before getting my MR2). Salesman told me the geezer who owned it gets a new one from them every year

I guess the difference between the car inustry is people sell their current one to buy a new one. The new DSi will render the older one almost worthless surely?

Most people dont sell their old tech (at a decent price) when they buy "new" tech.
