I've just had my final
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
'do I want to buy another car, or spend loads on my Mk1' battle.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
My criteria for the car is enjoyment.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
I'm not really bothered if something else is quicker in a straight line, quicker round a corner or brakes better, just how much enjoyment I get from driving it.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
So with that in mind, I've just test driven a few cars:
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Honda S2000
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
- When I drove it, I thought it was superb, felt quite sure footed, load of power.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
However, when I got back in my Mk1, I was instantly sure that the Mk1 is more fun, better feedback.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
In my opinion, it's similar to a Mk2 Turbo, which is no bad thing.

![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Honda NSX Type-S
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
(2000 model)
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
- Woah momma!
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
That was fun, really fun.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
I've never driven anything that feels so stable at speed.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
The engine is awesome and sounds superb.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
The problem is, that it's huge fun doing 120mph round a corner
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
(and feels glued to the road), however it needs to be going that fast to actually have any fun.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
What's the point in that then?
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
The only times you can truely enjoy the car, you won't just lose your license, you'll probably get locked up for it.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Getting back in the Mk1 and driving home was far more fun that driving the NSX at sub 8-mph speeds.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
So the Mk1 has won again.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
MR2 Mk3/MR-S/Roadster/Spyder
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
(how many names!)
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
- Really didn't do anything for me I'm afraid, not going to get into a Mk1/Mk2/Mk3 battle, but not for me.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Mk2 MR2
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
- I've owned two Turbo's, and they were great fun
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
& very fast.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Again, not getting into a Mk1/Mk2/Mk3 battle, but I prefer the Mk1, as it's more rewarding to drive.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Mazda RX8
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
- Too damn big!
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
It's not a sports car, it's a very fast and capable family car.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Nissan 350Z
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
- Test driving this next week.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
99.9% certain that I won't want one, as it's big, heavy and a Nissan
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Going to test drive it anyway just for a laugh.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
I'm sure that my ideal car would be an Elise or VX220, but I'm not prepared to lose THAT much practicality.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
I was going to drive a Lotus Esprit and a TVR Tuscan, but after driving the NSX, I'm convinced that supercars have no place on the road
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
(unless you really don't care about getting caught).
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
They're great fun, and a super babe magnet
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
(you don't half get some looks driving a Pearlescent Orange NSX!!), but for day to day enjoyment of the driving, they're not for me.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
There isn't anything else that would really fit my requirements for a car, so, after test driving everything that I think is available, I'm now certain that the Mk1 MR2 is the best car in the world
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Of course, I've just saved
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
£20-£30k by not buying a new car, and I feel fully justified in spending that money on my Project Mk1.
