Performance

Advanced automotive engineering from Toyota has produced the MR2 Roadster's 1.8 litre engine incorporating Variable Valve Timing (VVT-i) technology. A computerised control ensures that intake valve timing adjusts automatically to engine speed and accelerator pressure. The result - responsive acceleration coupled with low fuel consumption.

0 - 60mph is achieved in 8.0 seconds and top speed is 129 mph. But it still returns a combined fuel consumption of 38.2mpg.

Meanwhile MacPherson strut suspension all round delivers outstanding grip and handling qualities.

Although the MR2 Roadster weighs just 975 kg., it has a long wheelbase and produces an impressive 127lb/ft of torque at 4,200 rpm. So it delivers the best power-to-weight ratio in its class and is highly responsive in all gears.

The MR2 Roadster achieves a stunning 138 bhp at 6,400 rpm. And yet, figures alone can never adequately describe just how exciting it is to drive.
