Re: Century Motorsport Drag Car Build
After the cage was all sprayed up, it was time to fit the rear window. Due to the cage coming through the window area, I had to make a template so I could figure where i needed to cut the window. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e358/nathanfreke/Mobile%20Uploads/4329F659-E6B6-42EE-94FF-9F194DD492C1...

Re: Century Motorsport Drag Car Build
Yes it will go a lot further Ash. The opening is 175mm.
When it's finished, it should be a pretty straight line from the rad to the exit of the scoop.

Re: Century Motorsport Drag Car Build
So we made a start on wiring the chassis loom this week. First of all we identified the lengths we needed for each electrical item and then we labelled it all up. We've ordered the wires now, so the build of that loom will start next week. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e358/nathanfreke/Mobile%20...

Re: Century Motorsport Drag Car Build
Got the car back from websters the other day. The quality of their work is fantastic. It's now boasting a cromolley tig welded 8.50 NHRA certificated cage. Now I need to paint it! http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e358/nathanfreke/Mobile%20Uploads/CF32B468-0D9A-4EE6-A5B9-E04E8750678E_zpsyenuqtci.jpg...

Rogue Motorsport 6 point roll cage
As title. You will need to purchase the weld in feet from Rogue (circa £40).
All in good condition. Not really able to post due to size.
Once the feet are welded into your car, the cage bolts together inside, so is removable.
£520

Re: Century Motorsport Drag Car Build
The engine side of the project has be planned out for a long time, but there has been some delays on final parts which has meant that physical progress not been possible up until this week. The head gasket that has been custom made has finally arrived and now the machining can start on the block. I ...

Re: Century Motorsport Drag Car Build
So a decent sized update today. The car has been away getting some bits made for it. As the fuel tank couldn't go in the front of the car due to the radiator ducting, it is going in the cabin with me. It's a 20L ATL race cell, but for certain drag regulations you're not allowed to have the fuel cell...

Nod wrote:Can I suggest the looms done before the cage. Working around a cage is a real ball ache (well more a head ache, a rib ache and a back ache).
I'm afraid that the cage has been booked in for weeks and is currently being fitted.... I'll get the nurofen and hot compress ready!

Re: Century Motorsport Drag Car Build
Some more updates... The car went off to have some fabrication work done to it. Fuel tank compartment, Water tank fixing down, parachute fitted, and the first stage of the rad duct made.. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e358/nathanfreke/Mobile%20Uploads/9351218D-7AE1-4D19-9F8B-BBA8FF2F3D8D_zpskpmq...

Re: Century Motorsport Drag Car Build
I've not really got a massive amount to update with. Progress has been slow due to not being able to spare much time on it. I'm also waiting for the head to return from porting so I can't do much with the motor either. I've been working on the skunk inlet runners. It's turning into quite a job, but ...

Re: Century Motorsport Drag Car Build
Yes, I totally agree with what you're saying. It is a heavy lump of metal! But I think putting weight in the front end is what we will end up doing so I just thought I'd make it look pretty and leave it on

Re: Century Motorsport Drag Car Build
I did last time around, but not this time.
It's weight exactly where I need it, and it'll add safety if I get into an unfortunate situation

Re: Century Motorsport Drag Car Build
I can't say I know what sonic shadows is, although it sounds like it's a good job I don't! Been waiting on a few bits to come back from powder coat before I could really make any progress on the car. I've managed to sort the inner arches out with a bit of black and a few other bits. Now I've got the...

Re: Century Motorsport Drag Car Build
That's the finished shell in the pictures.
We did toy with the idea of 100% purple, but decided to keep the original choice.
There probably isn't another MR2 in the world with this colour combo, and that's what we are after

Re: Century Motorsport Drag Car Build
After deliberating over bodywork I came across a Kei Office front bumper. It looked perfect for my needs. Was nice and low, and I had a good idea for it to reduce lift and drag. We got to work by fibreglassing up the side vents.... http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e358/nathanfreke/Mobile%20Uploads/...
