Re: 2ZZ-GE, is it worth?
The seller (sam) is a decent chap and known in Mk3 circles. As for the gearbox, no the T-Sport (or celica) gearboxes are not fitted with a LSD, you need to transfer the one from your current 1zz box. Are you going to do the swap yourself or get a garage to do it? If you are considering a garage I wo...

Re: 2ZZ-GE, is it worth?
It would work with the 5 speed gearbox BUT the ratios are all wrong for keeping the car in lift and you will loose a lot of the reason why you want to change the engine in the first place. The factory 2zz box is much more suited to the engine. What do you mean about the ratios? The 2zz celica/corol...

Re: 2ZZ-GE, is it worth?
The swap is fairly simple and if you're using the standard 2zz ECU fuel consumption won't change much (in my experience). It would work with the 5 speed gearbox BUT the ratios are all wrong for keeping the car in lift and you will loose a lot of the reason why you want to change the engine in the fi...

Re: Hello and part number needed please
Hi thanks for the reply, I've already had a go on the headlights but they're just not quite good enough, I think there is some on the inside as well. I source some parts form my other vehicles from abroad and quite often a lot cheaper so i'll make some enquiries, thanks This is common on the mk3's ...

I wouldn't take my MR2 anywhere else!
They work on both my road and race car and have never failed me (no matter how last minute my breakage!).

Re: Hullavington Airfield 08/05/2015
I was hoping you might come on here and post up as I meant to grab your number! We were in the mk3 and I never got chance to take you up on that offer of a few laps! I found a set of lowering springs for your car that I don't need (nothing wrong with them - they were only raced on for 1 season), you...

Re: Trusted 1zz engine supplier
I've heard you can get them from Toyota dude for a reasonable price.. Maybe speak to Patrick at Rogue about it Cheers Vinny, I was hoping there was a slightly cheaper price as it's only for a road car. But going on my recent luck I wanted to at least find a recommended seller. I bought a 2004 car t...

Trusted 1zz engine supplier
Can anyone advise on a second hand supplier of later (after 2003) engines?
I need a block and would rather find a second hand decent one from a reputable and referred source.
Thanks

Re: MK1 MR2 with V6 3vz - Gearbox question
Hi Miles, there is absolutely no problem at all, i personally run a supercharged 2gr-fe in a Mk1 without issue. The only thing we strengthen is the front and rear crossmembers where the torque mounts bolt up, on bigger HP engines these areas have been known to crack, so we use spreader plates on th...

Re: MK1 MR2 with V6 3vz - Gearbox question
Paul, how do these engines in a mk1 hold up to sustained use in terms of wheel bearings, driveshafts etc. It is an old car designed for a lot less horsepower, are the mk1 components up to the job of the additional bhp?

Hi Lewis, I will take the BC Racing coilovers and adjustable rear arms. I'll also take all the lower underbody braces and bars etc, and the wheel spacers as well. It would also be good to have a chat about the used monocraft kit, could you PM me a contact number and I'll give you a call. Let me know...

Castle Eaton Vehicle Services (ex Toyota mechanic) - Swindon / Cirencester
I just wanted to say a big thank you to Jon at Castle Eaton Vehicle Services just outside Swindon who has been looking after my mr2. He has completed an engine rebuild, suspension refurb, as well as general maintenance on the car. And I can't fault his work and knowledge. I pointed another MR2 owner...

Re: Rear brakes binding (not the sliders)
anything is possible, I had both headlight bulbs go at same time :pale: Are the pads sticking in the carrier? Maybe getting the extra heat from the track and expanding into the carrier and sticking then when they cool down all is ok? I wouldn't think it was the prop valve as I'd expect that to caus...

Re: Rear brakes binding (not the sliders)
Yes, I took them out and noticed they had overheated. I can only assume they were binding on the disc. Wheels span freely before removing them in the garage. About 4 laps in I was noticing a reduction in brake performance and a slightly longer pedal travel. Pads were new. The last complete set I fit...

Rear brakes binding (not the sliders)
Hi, On the road all is fine. On track after 3/4 laps the rear brakes are binding (both sides). Running EBC yellows with backing plates etc retained. Sliders in the calipers are free (and calipers all good), handbrake is not catching. A search led me to possibly a failed brake proportioning valve. Th...

N/A box.
I think I've narrowed it down to 54kg (dry) being correct.

Weight of mk2 Gearbox?
Hi,
Does anybody know the weight and rough dimensions of a mk2 gearbox?
A bit of research shows between 54-59kg dependant on where you read, does this sound about right (dry weight).
Thanks
