Re: Gen 4 3SGTE details ?

The Rev 4 3s-gte has a HV oil pump, i believe to be the same as the 5sfe 2.2 pump however its designed like a gen3. This means that if you use a 5s block / 3s head combo, you can use the sump and pump off the gen4 3sgte to give you the same 2-piece sump and lower oil filter as is on the gen 3 3sgte ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Fitting a GT35 kit

To get the most out of a gt35r you are going to want bigger injectors than 800's and a 255 pump. 305Lph bosch 044 and 1150cc's would be more suited. Would also prefer a 44mm wastegate over a 38 as you may get creep at low boost on a 38, and with only a 255 pump and 800's you will have to keep it in ...

[Mk2] [Turbo] L19 ARP head studs Vs Normal ARP studs? Do i really need L19s?

I already have a set of normal ARP 3sgte studs, however as i am now upgrading the bottom end to a 5s block due to my 3s block failing, i wonder weather it would be a good idea to upgrade to L19 head studs? I will be pushing the engine to produce around about 600~650 whp , currently at 485 whp, Perha...

Re: Wiseco pistons + Cometic 1mm + std. rods

So bob, if the main aim of the game is to make some bhp numbers... then why does it make any difference whether you use a low CR / high ignition advance or a higher CR/ lesser ignition advance? You can cool the head with extra fuel. Tbh the only real advantage i can see is in the MPG! I've made 570b...

Re: BMIC (Boot Mount Intercooler)

On my old hybrid ct20b , locked inside surrey rolling road (an ex gun firing range) so ambient temps was likely above 20c , it was peaking at about 32'c @1.5 bar and made 418 bhp. (this is from what i can remember as it was a couple of years ago now) however, then i fitted the side feed plenum which...

Re: BMIC (Boot Mount Intercooler)

Nope! there is no heat soak issues. There is two spal fans under the IC sucking the air through and it remains cool.

Re: BMIC (Boot Mount Intercooler)

The only way to do this right imo is the way me and Nathan did it. Rear facing inlet manifold so no more pipework than any front mount, large scoop under the car to push air into the ic, twin 12" fans on the top to pull more air through the ic. And outlets in the rear to allow the air out of t...

Re: BMIC (Boot Mount Intercooler)

Increased lag as you're running longer piping. What a load of bull! I disagree. However the increase in lag will most likely be imperceptable. I agree with that peter. but its such a small amount its not even worth mentioning, unless the designer is an idiot with the pipework! Iirc my BMIC s...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Big Brake Kit

yes you could use the stock caliper for that but the issue is weight. One of the reasons for going forged ally for caliper is the massive weight reduction. I shaved off 50% of my caliper weight when i fitted the 4-pots to the front. The stock rear calipers weigh a tonne.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] eBay aftermarket intercooler thoughts

What the more expensive brands have is extensive flow testing to ensure the IC is as efficient as can be whilst being as unrestrictive to the airflow as possible. You will also find that the dearer ones have a superior design inside giving better heat exchange from the air to the metal. Cheap ones u...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] eBay aftermarket intercooler thoughts

If you're going to upgrade your intercooler, save your pennies and buy a GReddy, Spearco or HKS unit - buy cheap, buy twice! Correct for quite a few things but not for IC's. Made 570bhp on a £90 12x24x4 with shizen end tanks. Just about to upgrade to a 12x24x4.5 with huge end tanks at a cost of £17...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Why would someone block these vacuum pipes off? (pic included)

leaving them open will make it under-boost and spool slower Lol just read this, would love to know how! :eye: My bad, i was thinking of an external wastegate system as thats what i have been using for quite a while now. However Luke. Many of us are Still wondering the answer to the question i asked ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Why would someone block these vacuum pipes off? (pic included)

That only makes sense if you have an external wastegate fitted. Otherwise the car will massively overboost and hit fuel-cut all the time #-o Not true. The car will boost until the rating of the actuator spring has been reached and then the wastegate will open. The actuator spring will always be les...

No, but i have managed to get a hold of an input shaft after a local mr2 owner very kindly blew up his gearbox at a car show last weekend :D Tbh i think the best option would be to order one from summit racing in usa and wait the couple of weeks for it to show up :/ Btw, you only need it if you have...
