Re: rear brakes/hand brake
Step 6 is more imprtant than most realise, if you don't pump the pedal after winding the piston in/out and you operate the h/brake first, you will reset the caliper internal mechanism and end up with no h/brake at all, effectively dead calipers, so pump the pedal before adjusting the h/brake back u...

Re: Rear of sideskirts - which is correct?.
Kinda confusing all right. Think I'll go with the plain red look. Must clean/paint the 2 screws as well. Didn't think they were that bad till I saw them in the photo.
Thanks,

Re: Rear of sideskirts - which is correct?.
Not sure which is correct for MK1A. Mine is a crossover so anything's possible. Been looking at Pics of MK1A's & some have the black bit while some are completely red. Like the full red look so may respray one.
Thanks for the replies,

Re: Rear of sideskirts - which is correct?.
I replaced the driver's side at some stage as it was cracked. Not sure what the replacement came off. Could have been a MK1B. Colour was very close so it did the job. If anyone has a MK1A or a pic, could you take a look.

Rear of sideskirts - which is correct?.
Hi All, Have the MR2 up on axle stands doing rear calipers at the moment & noticed that the rear of the sideskirts- the bit in the rear wheelarch - is completely red at one side & has half black paint at the other. Anyone know which ic correct. It's a 1985 MK1A & has been resprayed in th...

Part no. for MK1B pressure plate
Hi All,
Any chance someone would have the Toyota part no. for a Clutch Pressure plate for a MK1B. Is this a different size to a MK1A.
Thanks,
Tim

I had a similar problem. Driving one day & suddenly the needle shot up into the red while the car was fairly cold. Disconnected at the sender unit at the block & re connected & the needle dropped down a bit. Next morning, when I turned on the ignition before starting, the needle sat at h...

Re: Hi-Torque ?
This is getting a bit too technical for me. FWD Corolla has 42mm crank journals(big ends), RWD corolla has 40mm. He's looking for a 42mm crank. Anyone know what the MK1A or MK1B is?. Apparently this shaft is in the 20Valve silver top Corolla engine.

Hi-Torque ?
Hi All,
My buddy rallies a Starlet KP60 with a 1990ish Corolla 1600CC Hi-Torque engine. Can anyone tell me if that is the same engine as the MR2 MK1B & if the crankshaft is the same.
Thanks,
Tim

Re: effects of new shock and old springs?
Do springs from any other manufacturer fit the MR2. Probably need to replace the rear springs when I change the shocks over the winter but looking for a cheaper alternative. Just using MR2 for summer classic car runs.

Re: throttle stiffness
There's a little screw where the throttle cable attaches to the Throttle body in the engine bay to stop the quadrant (someone else will explain this more technically) going back too far. At one stage when I was trying to bring the revs down, I loosened this too much & the quadrant (circular thin...

Anyone spray with water based paint?. is it less dangerous than 2K or Celly. I've heard it takes ages to go off without an oven.

1998 MK1A ?
Just saw this 1988 MK1A for sale here in Ireland. It appears to be a MK1A which is very strange as this is well after the "crossover" period. Not buying but has anyone any ideas how it could be a MK1A unless it's an earlier car with a later "identity" :) http://photos2.donedeal.i...

Re: Shock Absorbers
OEM will be from Toyota, they come as a sealed full strut now (no nut holding the guts in). Not sure if there are any sources outside Toyota for OEM dampers. KYB do the Excel G and GR2. I've only seen the Excel Gs for sale in the UK and the GR2s in the USA. From what I recall the front Excel Gs and...

Hi Jinxy,
Do you have any pics of the completed trailer or does anyone have a MR2 trailer picture. I'd like to see how the area at the front of the trailer is finished off .
