Nothing happens until 3000 but it comes on hard by 4000rpm.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] GT30 vs GT35 Turbo

I've got a 3076 at the moment and am planning to replace it with a Borg Warner as soon as I can get hold of one. The 3076 is great and as big as I want to go but the BW looks like it will spool faster. If you don't run off the RHS of the 3076 map then I don't see why you would look to go any bigger?...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Quick question for those running chargecoolers

I can't find any good pictures, or exact dimensions of my Radtec chargecooler kit but that sounds similar, and that went straight on with the AC rad staying in place.

Re: MR2 SW20 RHD Power Steering Quick Steer Pinion.

Just keep hassling them every day. I work for a fairly large company that deals with small manufacturing business’ and even we have to call daily to get things delivered anywhere near on time. If you ring often enough then it eventually becomes easier for them to just do the job than keep making up ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Ford Water Cooled Exhaust Manifold

I had a quick skim through that link but couldn't see any reference to it so thought I'd post. Appologies if I missed it in that article, but I understand those engines utilise a lot of EGR (~20-30%). That's why lower the EGTs is critical. It is something that could be considered for an MR2 but woul...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] What is the best way to get hold of a GT turbo?

Having looked into it all properly, the EFR turbo does indeed look like the best choice, but as predicted I can't get hold of one for several months. I'm still keen to try but I think I'm going to have to replace the Garrett first if I don't want to leave the car parked up for the rest of the summer...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] What is the best way to get hold of a GT turbo?

You will struggle to find an EFR turbo, some people have been waiting 18+months for them to be re-released after the failures they'd had with them. So be very wary of anyone saying that they can get you one, as you'll more than likely just get stuck on a waiting list.... I have seen that but I migh...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] What is the best way to get hold of a GT turbo?

So having done the research- if you were to source a new turbo who would you go to and why? I don't want to get into trouble for promoting banned traders so I won't mention any names..... The reason why is that I've used him a lot before and have had good experiences. Price is also very competitive...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] What is the best way to get hold of a GT turbo?

Plenty of action on this thread – thanks guys  I’ve already spoken to banned trader, Owen Developments and Turbotechnics and in fact I think I have now sorted a source for a new GT turbo if I want one. However, I’m also looking into a Borg Warner turbo too now. I can’t find any results f...

[Mk2] [Turbo] What is the best way to get hold of a GT turbo?

My current GT3076R has expired so I'm looking to replace it. Probably with another 3076, but possibly with a 3071.
So far the only quote I've got is 1350 + VAT  which doesn't sit very well.
Who do other people use to get hold of these sort of turbos?

Thanks,

Re: MR2 SW20 RHD Power Steering Quick Steer Pinion.

That's typical of small manufacturing companies in my experience. They start off quoting 8-9weeks and here we are 10 weeks later with production not even started. #-o Just keep the pressure on them I guess, and let us know when production starts. :thumleft: I was hoping to fit mine while the car was...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] oil capacity of sump - dipstick markings

A litre between min and max is useful info but unfortunately I still need more than that as a standard dipstick won't fit my car anymore. I still need min and max values for the dipstick.

[Mk2] [Turbo] oil capacity of sump - dipstick markings

This is a bit of a random question but does anyone know how much oil equates to "low" and "high" on the dipstick? I need to make a new dipstick so I want to pour obtain amount and mark that as low, then add a bit more and see where high should be. The trouble is that I don't have...
