Re: Sump Removal Main Bearings & Big Ends
Matt, I feel your pain on that one, as you say I at least knew it was a dead 'un, I'd have been tempted to go back with yours I know private sales are 'sold as seen' but 30 miles. Seller still has a duty to provide goods fit for purpose, but it would depend on what the advert actually said. Anyway I...

Re: Sump Removal Main Bearings & Big Ends
Must admit I was in two minds about just throwing some shells in or trying to get hold of another engine. I think the another engine route is probably best, as I said in the original post I let one go a few years ago after it made 99p in ebay. There doesn't appear to be any on there at the moment, e...

Sump Removal Main Bearings & Big Ends
Bought a MK1 T-Bar knowing that there was something wrong with the engine & the existing owner says he can't start it. So got it back home & started to look for problems, got spark, got fuel & it was making what appeared to be an effort to start. Put the jump leads on to give it that ext...

Any idea where they are?
Do you have water/moisture entering your distributor cap?
Nope all is fine in there, I've convinced myself its one of the sensors.

Poor Running after starting on cold mornings
1993 Mk2 Rev2 Turbo, my wifes car, will start 1st time no matter what the temperature, but then you have to leave it running a couple of minutes before you set off. If you try to pull away too soon it will stall unless you rev it. Once it's warmed up there are no problems. On our old MK1 there used ...

Re: Shocks on an import
Fensport do the inserts, (1992 Rev2 Tubby) not a big job really but you will need spring compressors to do it. Standard OEM's are around £55 Koni's about £95 I think, it was about 2 months ago when I did ours, took about 1 hour a side. Then I would suggest you get a full four wheel alignment done.

Tacho jumps about all over
Got a problem with the tacho on the MK1 the tacho is not steady it jumps about all over the dial. After it warms up it seems to get slightly better, but whenever you put your foot on the brake or switch on the indicators it dances about all over.

Toad Alarm
Just bought another MK1 it has a Toad alarm fitted, on the dashboard is a push switch. If you turn the ignition on then hold the switch in, the indicators flash 3 times. Switch ignition off then back on again, hold the button again the alarm pips 3 times. But other than that it doesn't seem to do an...

Re: Ropey handling - in a straight line.
Just had mine done at Hawley's tyres in Sheffield after changing the shocks. They give you a colour computer printout of before & after, shows toe, camber etc, red is wrong green is right. Cost me £47 as there wasn't a lot to change & the nuts came loose easily. When I took the MK1 in last y...

Re: knocking noise fom my rear!!!
I had a knocking noise on the turbo the other week, but it was more a sharp knock rather than a dull thud. It turned out to be the top mounting of the shocker aborber. You could get hold of the shock & actually move it in the mounting. I thin kwhen the shocks were changed last time whoever did i...

Re: Body shop Recomendation North Notts South Yorks
Not often, I know there is somebody in Retford who does good work, he was recommended to me at the beginning of last year by the guy who bought our black MK1. But I have no idea who he is, I've sent an email to the guy who bought the car but heard nothing back. The car goes to Worksop regularly, you...

Called Kingdom but they do not have the guy's number they want it themselves, so if anybody can recomend any other places would be good.
As to MeadhowHell I try to keep as far away from the god forsaken place as possible.

Body shop Recomendation North Notts South Yorks
Looking to have Gert's SW20 tidied up, get rid of the few rust patches that are starting to come through before they get hold and clear up a few stone chips. Anybody got any recommendations for a good body shop in the Sheffield, Doncaster, Rotherham, Worksop, Retford area?
