Mark 2 at Donington, Thursday
Was the blue Mark 2 at the general test day at Donington yesterday anyone on here? It was going well, given the cars it was sharing the track with! Daunting I'd imagine.

Re: Rally Car
The race car I bought from Granville Williams way back had 13"x8" front and 13"x10" rear. I think the rear brakes were standard but the fronts were non-standard, just can't remember what! I always regretted going to 16" on the later iteration and wished I'd kept smaller brak...

Re: Rogue XP1 - Adding Lightness...
Could you give me a ballpark figure for the cost of a road legal version with the higher spec engine
- the one from the Elise/Celica, iirc?
- and would it be best to source my own Mk3 donor or do you keep tabs on suitable cars?

Cheers

Cheers

Are the Xenons road legal/road useable, or could they be made so?

Hurrah! So glad it's finally done
- I don't know how you kept the patience to see it through.
Should be an awesome car.

Re: How fast could...
Thanks again gents. I will visit sometime, Patrick. You might remember that you were kind enough to invite me down to the 2010 (iirc) Silverstone race when you were working on my Mk1 so I had a good look at the car then and saw its pace. I know you developed it further still after that so imagine it...

Re: How fast could...
Cheers Ben. I'd like it to be (very) competent on track but would want it to handle roads too so I can enjoy it more. I've suffered some very compromised and very stiff cars so don't mind it being a bit hard and can cope with lack of interior comforts but don't want to go so far that on backroads yo...

Re: How fast could...
Glad to hear it's so close now! Been a while hasn't it and I have to admit I did wonder if you'd get fed up and never complete it. It should be the best Mark 1 ever built once done, given all that's in/on it. Probably the only one to exceed the cost of my old one too! I had a really good look around...

Re: How fast could...
Less than the string that FEAM turned into! That was a noose. It would depend on what benefits to track or road the different cost would give but possibly c. £15000 asa ball park, but £20,000 as a top limit and I'd want to budget for service/consumables and repairs in the latter. Almost certainly wo...

Re: How fast could...
I was thinking of a stripped out car, lightened as far as possible, with a full, welded in cage (to all load points/pickup/suspension mounts et cetera?), adjustable coilovers, engine transplant and, very probably, a bodykit. I love the way the Rogue race car looks and guess slightly wider rubber mig...

Re: How fast could...
The second post is very interesting for me as it's laptimes I'm focussed on and know Curborough well. We had a Lotus Sunbeam that ran 38s on the single lap (way back in the days before track based rubber) and a Chevette HSR that did low 37s, again on road tyres. My brother used his standard Mk1 MR2 ...

Re: How fast could...
Yes, I thought that soon after I posted, thought about how to clarify things a bit, so assuming road usability how fast could it go on track
(e.g.
laptime at somewhere like Brands or Donington) and what ought to be done to achieve this for:

(a)
£10,000

(b)
£15,000

(c)
£20,000

Very interesting looking cars! How do they handle
(how stable? secure? malleable?) and how do they compare to your track and race prepared Mk3 Patrick?

Bodykit & wheels
Very ignorant about Mk3s but like the way they look and love the way some of those posted on here look. With the wider bodykits - like the arched one in the track pic or the Rogue race car type - I expect wider wheels/tyres to be in order. For a joint road and occasional track (possibly) use would t...

FEAM update
Still very little has actually been done. The most significant thing is that we've decided to carry on with the orange car and use FEAM as a source of nice parts. Cage has been removed and is due to be fitted to the orange car over the next few weeks hopefully. Turbo conversion is still progressing...

If you haven't seen it you might find this interesting http://web.mac.com/dghawkes/F800_EAM/Welcome.html A mess-about prototype website for my photography business, just learning how to build one/use HTML and using this as the subject matter so I had something to remember and a place to combine al t...

Re: F 800 EAM - any update/news?
Please don't! It will hurt too much. Though to be honest I can pretty much remember each and every bill. The STACK was a bit of a frippery I admit, just liked the look of the thing. Had I kept it I wanted to add data logging etc. but got too bogged down with other cars/projects regrettably and ran o...
