Leakie TBar- counterfeit product, not replying to email / PM

Sat Feb 25: I contact Leakie TBar regarding a Tial 38mm Wastegate which he eventually decided to sell as part of a kit instead. A turbosmart wastegate was offered instead: The tial is no longer for sale it is being sold as a complete turbo kit in the for sale section I do have a brand new turbosmar...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Fake Turbosmart external wastegate - what to do now?

Well, he's not read either PM from me and I've had no reply to my email either. Tomorrow I will post up in Trader Feedback about it unless I hear back overnight :pale:

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Fake Turbosmart external wastegate - what to do now?

Peter is right I know... the only thing that makes me not press for this is that the deal was done about 4 1/2 months ago, as it took me a fair while to get the thing fitted to my car and thus find there was a problem  I ran the wastegate on the single spring yesterday evening, and it seemed ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Fake Turbosmart external wastegate - what to do now?

I've emailed the seller now, as they don't appear to have posted on here in nearly 2 months. I've suggesting a partial refund so the net cost to me is that of an unbranded 38mm wastegate (as sold on ebay), given that is essentially what I received, rather than the quality Turbosmart gate I was expec...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Fake Turbosmart external wastegate - what to do now?

Ok seizure seems unlikley but wot if valve diaphram splits and then fails to open valve? My genuine valve says kevlar diaphram. Wots a fake made from? Who knows? I must admit, I made a mistake when I initially plumbed in my EBC solenoid and the gate didn't open, but my ST205 ECU protected th...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Fake Turbosmart external wastegate - what to do now?

So, long story short, I bought what I was told was a brand new Turbosmart Ultragate (38mm) with the 7psi/0.5bar spring Turbosmart sell them with. I had it fitted to my car at reasonable expense due to the custom work required. When it boosted pretty instantly to 14psi/1bar on spring pressure I suspe...

Re: 140 or 150mm drop links needed

Fair enough... just sharing my experience that short front droplinks have caused me no end of problems, and that the rose joints on the whitelines are made of cheese ](*,) Also, bear in mind that the droplinks go up and down with the suspension arms, so you might not need much clearance (though I ca...

Re: 140 or 150mm drop links needed

i can do without buying £120 worth of adjustable whiteline ones My experience with whitelines is they don't last anyway.,.. avoid them! [-( 150mm seems a bit short for the fronts; wouldn't they start pulling (trying to rotate) the hub carrier (or adjustable droplink mount) on the coilovers at full ...

If you'd have put her up closer to this price when you last advertised, I'd have bitten your hands off for it

As it is, I have a caribbean blue tubby now with which I'm pretty happy... tho I've always thought yours is nicer! (Sorry Fizz / Flamby)

Re: ST205 ECU for chargecooler pump control

I reccomend using the ST205 coolant overflow tank. I haven't needed a coolant topup in months, including a 3000mile EU roadtrip :thumleft: Yup, I've finally got mine plumbed in correctly now, mounted on the core itself, on the leg nearest the compressor housing. I've actually gutted the pressure ca...

Re: ST205 ECU for chargecooler pump control

Oh, one very good reason not to do this without the chargecooler system is that the GT4 boys have difficulty fooling the ECU into thinking the pump is actually there. Some use resistors, some use light bulbs; but AFAIK no solution works for 100%. And if the ECU thinks the pump has failed, it's back ...

Re: Can i ditch this gizmo?

What I'm saying is you could do some custom wiring and end up with a switch in the cabin that raises the idle by about 200rpm... if you'd ever want that

Re: Can i ditch this gizmo?

Without aircon, that solenoid serves no purpose... you can get rid if you wish, or hook it up to a switch for a manual high-ideal state :thumleft:

Re: ST205 ECU for chargecooler pump control

Are there any power gains to be had by swapping? I have a Rev 1 turbo converted to Rev 3 ECU, the only problem is there is no chargecooler in my setup. Toxo's dyno graphs suggest there are minor gains to be had... however the main reason we converted was for warning if the fluid level dropped or th...

Re: ST205 ECU for chargecooler pump control

I know of someone else who's since done this ECU conversion (also on a cari blue rev3!) who didn't have the idle speed problems I encountered. I'm interested to hear how your car idles once the weather has improved a bit. Oh, hello there 8) I see I'm a tad late to this party  Oh and just to c...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Oil temp sensor location - not sandwich plate or sump

any confirmation if it's 1/4 BSP? It's not... The 1/4BSP adaptor (with 1/8NPT plug fitted) on the left and the plug that came out of the car on the right. Excuse the truely awful camera phone photo, my car was slowly dripping oil with the plug out so I wasn't hanging around for a photography master...
