Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] strange occurance with my tyres on my freshly imported tubby

narrow tyres on wide rims reduces side wall deflection therefore slip angles so will improve performance

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] anyone running with a lightened crankshaft?

the counterweights on the crank are to balance the crank. i was just trying to make a point that they are not used to balance the piston/rod assembly. in an application where the pistons are 180 out of pahse

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] anyone running with a lightened crankshaft?

the pistons and rods i use normally all come out of the box within 1 gram of each other. if you weigh them all seperatly then for example match the heviest piston with the lightest rod they should all come pretty close. if you want it perfect it requires you take a little metal off the piston. but a...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] anyone running with a lightened crankshaft?

i dont know how to make it any easier. pistons are 180 deg out of phase so forces completly cancel each other therefore no counterweights on the crankshaft are needed. as for balancing the rod/piston assembly you just make sure there all the same weight. simple. if you dont know what your talking ab...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] anyone running with a lightened crankshaft?

crank shaft balance is totally seperate from piston/rod. pistons/rods counter balance them selves i very much doubt that by lightening the crank will cause harmonics anywhere close to the 100hz mark. if its well balanced it will greatly reduce the instability that causes the harmonics to have less e...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] anyone running with a lightened crankshaft?

there isnt a huge ammount to take off but there is enough to make a diffrence. i managed to get just over 1kg off mine with knife edging the lobes . this isnt a massive ammount but at 8000rpm and 43mm from centre it is a clear improvment. and you also have to think about the the reduced drag caused ...

Re: [All] [Generic] MR2 Turbo vs Clio 172

The car aint bad. anything that can lap brands in 53's with under 200 bhp which turns out to be faster than quite a few cars in time attack with most of them having around the 500bhp mark is pretty impressive.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Rear hub nut coming loose

thanks for your responce but i think i have it sorted. i just phoned rouge and got some advice basically what i thought that the brearing is knackerd and needs replacing he also said there was little chance that it had worn the hub so just a bearing kit should do the job.
