Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Wheel weights falling into my calipers

Tell me about it. It looks like overnight the weights were at the top of the wheel and the sticky strip started to peel away from the wheel leaving a few weights dangling. When I reversed out they must have managed to rub on the disc and get drawn into the caliper. As you say, the chances of that ha...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Wheel weights falling into my calipers

All sorted, kinda.

Removed wheel and spotted the offending weights through the pad inspection hole, the were wedged between the edge of the disc and the caliper. Removed caliper and weights fell out.

Now need to go back to tyre fitter and make sure the fit the weights properly.

[Mk2] [Turbo] Wheel weights falling into my calipers

This morning whilst reversing my car out of the garage I heard a loud bang, I immediately thought I had hit something. A quick check around the car revealed nothing had occured. As I drove down the road I could hear a grinding noise coming from the passenger side rear wheel so I went back home. A qu...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Beeping every 30 seconds (May be Toad 606)

Oops ](*,)

I got home tonight and went to my garage to try and find out the cause of my beeping car. Whilst under front bonnet I noticed the sound was coming from above me, I looked up and saw a smoke detector with a flat battery warning :)

Case closed

[Mk2] [Turbo] Beeping every 30 seconds (May be Toad 606)

This morning I noticed that my MR2 MK2 Rev 5 Turbo was making a single beep every 30 seconds. The beep occurs whether or not the alarm is armed/disarmed and the ignition off or on. Basically it happens all the time. The car has a Toad 606 fitted so I suspect that this is the issue. I have contacted ...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] How do I tell if my speedo is electric or mechanical?

The speedo on my REV 4 jumps briefly when the ignition is turned on, which I guess means its electronic. Whereas my old REV2 didn't jump at all, which I guess was cable.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] left front and rear indicator sticking on????

I had a similar problem on an old Capri I once owned and found it was all down to a sticky relay in the alarm. I managed to open up the relay and give it a squirt with WD40, it was fine for years after.

I don't know if this helps :?

[Mk2] [Turbo] Lights on Alarm

I have a REV4 MR2 Turbo with a Toad Cat 1 alarm fitted. The problem is that the lights on alarm does not sound when the door is opened, however the key in ignition alarm works fine. I asked my garage to investigate and they suggested that it may be the way the alarm has been fitted and as it is a th...

Re: WHY do bigger alloys mean worse handling?

Hmmm..... I still am having severe problems with understeer on my rev 4 SW20 Turbo. As I have already said my rev 2 Turbo used oversteer beautifully and I spent nearly 10 happy years confidently sliding round corners. My new rev 4 has 205 front and 225 rear tyres (people suggesting that 205 are bigg...

Re: WHY do bigger alloys mean worse handling?

Does anyone know what size tyres should be fitted as standard on a SW20 turbo revision 4 15" wheels. The reason I asked is that my beloved rev 2 turbo was written off a few months ago. The car handled beautifully as was completely standard. I used to be able to drift it around bends and roundab...

[Mk2 Turbo] SW20 rev 4 Turbo wheels questions

I currently have what my garage calls the 15" anniversary wheels on my car (diamond cut). Unfortunately they are oxidising quite badly and was wondering whether or not they can be refinished back to there original condiition. If not, I am thinkng of getting a new set of wheels, possibly with bi...
