Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Electrical Woes. I need advice :(
I suspected the alternator after testing the wiring but proving that to the garage (who had tested it twice and said it was fine) was proving problematic. As soon as a third party auto electricians confirmed the fault it was sorted in the week :) Not sure on the warranty, a bit late I suspect. All s...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Electrical Woes. I need advice :(
Quick update.. ETS finally changed the alternator again and problem solved. The original alternator had an intermittent fault which gave the error lights before the system warmed up.
Thanks for everyone's help, hugely appreciated.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Electrical Woes. I need advice :(
Hey, Thanks for the reply. I've tried two batteries, and terminals are all absolutely fine. It's not a bad earth as I've ran an earch from batt terminal to engine. I've checked the fuses (I wouldn't have power to the wires at the alt plug if the fuses had gone). I still don't understand why the erro...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Electrical Woes. I need advice :(
Thanks for the reply.
There is voltage at the 3 pins on the plug so these seem okay.
I ran an earth direct from the battery to engine so that should rule a bad earth out.
It looks like the alternator to me. If it could be the ecu is there a way of testing this?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Electrical Woes. I need advice :(
Still struggling with this one. I've been busy so only had time to look at the car again in the last week. I jumped my car off the girlfriends and left it running, after about 20 minutes the error lights all go our and the battery begins to get charge.. weird! Anyway, I bypassed the IG ECU wire that...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Electrical Woes. I need advice :(
OK. There is a known issue with earlier cars, but it could be your problem too. Wire gets broken in the loom between alternator and fuse box. Black-Yellow wire that comes from ECU-IG fuse. I see it once or twice every year. If that wire has gone faulty, it will cause the dash lights to illuminate i...

It really bugs me when people don't say which revision it is and then I go and do the same.. What a plonker. Sorry, it is a rev 3.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Electrical Woes. I need advice :(
Thanks for the replies. The fans are currently unplugged and fuses removed so that should rule the fans out I'd have thought. I've driven the car tonight with no problem at all. If the problem is intermittent diagnosis could be problematic. It's been relatively dry and the problem has occurred but I...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Electrical Woes. I need advice :(
I'm quite unsure on exactly what the best action would be with this problem. I am praying some nice Imoc member will be able to shed a little light on to the situation. Where to start.. A few weeks back, I was nipping over to the gf's parents house and after about 30 seconds of driving the Battery L...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] The speedhut look for a fraction of the cost
I have a 45mm Omori Boost Gauge that has a separate colour change control box for the led. So I can choose pretty much any colour. I cant tell you much more more as I didn't fit it but it may help if someone is looking, the gauges seem to pop up every now and then. I would assume the control box is...

Re: Snowfoam
To be fair it does remove alot of crud off the car before you then wash over it with a mitt. The idea being that you are not rubbing so much dirt over the paintwork. Unless you take detailing really seriously theres not too much point in my opinion but it is good fun. I use a PH neutral snowfoam and...

I used to go to the bubble inn meet but it seemed to just tail off so theres not much cracking off around here at the minute. I finsd the best thing to do is to go on the regional areas on mr2oc :D What are you driving? Ill keep an eye out. Here's mine :-P http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/8467/p10...
