Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] RADIATOR upgrade
Ok cool check thanks is the OEM one ok with the shroud, or should i get a fan kit to mount to that? and is the OEM ok for cooling a car upto about 350 BHP? thanks The stock rad and fans work very well even on 1000 hp cars. Remember the fans are only used when the car is standing still and has no ai...

Never put any shroud on a rad, it blocks off the air flow when you need it most, that includes intercoolers too

Re: Won't start without B+ and FP bridged in diagnostic port (rev 2 turbo)
Won't start without B+ and FP bridged in diagnostic port to force fuel pump to run. No codes showing. I checked the COR and fuel pump relays, both operated as they should when power applied (on bench). Checked various wires for continuity, 12V ect. and all came back fine. Tried putting back togethe...

Re: [Mk2] [SC] Running TD06 on stock engine
Engine is a Rev 3. I'll be using a Greddy intercooler, and probably dual SBC with an aftermarket exhaust and DP on (probably) a PFC. I should be able to run similar power to CT20B at it's limit without upgrading fueling and opening the block right? Long term I'll be investing in the engine a bit to...

Re: Coolants Dissapearing??
Hey Bob, cheers for your replies! I'm just waiting on the rain to stop as I'm working on the car outside(no garage). I'm really surprised I won't need a skim. I thought it was common practice if an engines hg went you'd skim it. Glad I asked now! So if I get the occasional pinking noise over the la...

Re: Coolants Dissapearing??
Refilled the coolant, didnt work. I was speaking to guys on MR2OC and everyones pretty sure the hg is away. Will be stripping it down tomorrow to get the head off and have it skimmed. Do not just have the head skimmed, I have never yet found one that needs doing, and it will raise the compression r...

Re: Valves Out for Turbo Head Skim?
The workshop Im using was asking me whether I knew if there was enough clearance between surface to be skimmed and the valves? Does anyone know whether the head can be skimmed without taking the valves out or not? Cheers! Yes there is. Have you checked the head needs to be skimmed as we have never ...

Re: Some noob questions for MR2 Newbie
Thanks for all the advice, had another go in it today, the power steering makes noises at the front near the pump and then the horrible noise stars usually when doing full lock to get out of parking spaces. The stick gear issue I've tried to narrow down. Basically if I'm rolling at 20 towards a set...

Re: TRD 2000GT Widebody
Why did TRD come up with the kit, was it anything to do with them racing the MR2? The answers in here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_MR2 They were a homage to the race car to celebrate winning. Thank you for that link, it may just be what I need to be able to fit the kit and run in the same ...

Yes that is right.
As long as the block and head look like ones that have been fitted to the car at some point, the rest is free.

Re: TRD 2000GT Widebody
Bob these still didn't come out the Toyota factory. Owners simply went to trd who fitted them. So really they are not a production car as such. As you could take your 90 car or 96 car and get the kit. These weren't cars with 0 mileage out of the factory. This is what I am trying to understand. So n...

Yes that is the point of fitting the kit, 800hp going through 265 rear tyres will not work well.

Re: TRD 2000GT Widebody
Fitting a body kit does not change what the car is surely. Underneath it is still the same car. At the moment it runs in the production car class so it has to be as it came out of the factory. I could run it in the limited production class as a TRD GT but 20 chassis have to be made in one year, but...

Where did you get the new head gasket from, not ebay I hope.
