Re: Cracked cylinder 3 ring land :UPDATE:

Yeah I really don't want to rebore if I don't have to
It's hardly a headache, just takes tie really, I'll save up, get it done properly and enjoy the car again, if I needed the money then maybe so, but it's not a problem sat in the garage until it's ready

Re: Cracked cylinder 3 ring land :UPDATE:

Ok cheers, I'll look into it all thanks,

I'm not keen on wossner pistons. Tcb put me off buying them and preferred the wiseco, also I'm hoping to stick to 86mm or as close to but thanks for
The offer

Re: Cracked cylinder 3 ring land :UPDATE:

Yeah they are all good ideas, it's all better to do while the engine is out I suppose, yvs are doing all the work so I'm leaving most of the technical parts to him

Re: Cracked cylinder 3 ring land :UPDATE:

All them prices are from Paul at tcb and that gasket kit includes the headgasket, seemed pretty cheap but he told me it was genuine Toyota

I think if your engine is out etc, for the little extra I think it's worth buying the forged stuff, bit of future proofing yourself if you did want to up power

Re: Cracked cylinder 3 ring land :UPDATE:

I changed the knock sensor and reset it, checked the timing and changed the ignition, I didn't drive it too hard for a while to see if the sensor would go or if the code came back, it didn't so I guessed it was just a one off occurance

Re: Cracked cylinder 3 ring land :UPDATE:

Actually not, it's all standard, never looked to have more power through it, seems strange it's gone, the engine only has 72.000 miles on it I had a knock issue so I assume that's when it's happened, the car at the moment has a lumpy idle bit like a Subaru so did a leak test and yep, leaking What fo...

Cracked cylinder 3 ring land :UPDATE:

Anyone had a similar issue?
Looks like an engine out rebuild time, I'm just pondering wether it's worth doing, it's a rev 3 turbo, in decent shape, minimal rust etc so I guess it's a car to stay on the road, just trying to justify the expense

Steam coming from thermostat area

Hi guys, Coming back with another issue, After a decent drive/ some fast driving I get steam coming from near the intercooler, the drivers(UK) side near right of the heat sheild, I'm assuming it's the thermostat area The temperature gauge stays normal sitting half way I'm thinking it could be the th...

Kph to mph

Hi, sorry if this is a question asked over and over again I currently have the jdm 180kph speedo cluster, instead of getting 110mph overlays I was going to buy the 160mph cluster Do I need anything else to convert it or is it just a case of taking one out and putting the new one in? Didn't know if I...
