Re: Coolant change - how far do you go?
if i couldnt get the drain bolts off the pipes then id cheat and pop one of the pipes off at the engine end and stuff a airline in there with rags to seal it, itll blow all the old coolant out .

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Underbody drain hole rust

Re: welcome to my basket case.
about a fiver :) and silicone is free, i nick it off work :) i always thought it was the tbar seals, two reasons, its always the tbar seals and also because the LOOK knackered. i was just making sure i aligned the door right when i put it back on. it would have been annoying to 'fix' the seals then ...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Non starter
when i did my alternator i happened to have the rear crossmember and suspension strut off the car. it was a 10 min job to get the alternator off. if i did it again i would definitely take the crossmember off for access, it doesnt take long and it makes is easy.

Re: welcome to my basket case.

(tricky one that, it looks like you can shove it...

Re: welcome to my basket case.
ive just finished stripping my block down to put it in the back of my car and ive discovered the root cause of the blowup. oil starvation. some monkey had been in there before me and the oil pump was full of silicone, on top of that the big end bearing had been fitted wrong on the two end cylinders....
