Re: Standard exhaust and Downpipe vs Aftermarket parts
RedMr2 no don't say that! I'm sad now! :( Jokes aside, I've heard good stories with some and not others. That just seems to be how everything is with these cars and aftermarket parts. Did you buy the exhaust from eBay or directly from Japseed though? @Race Idiot - Japspeed is good stuff imo, had ex...

Re: Standard exhaust and Downpipe vs Aftermarket parts
You'll defo see gains, to maximize the gains:

1.
Pop a pipercross filter into your air box or go full induction kit
2.
Run REDEX 500ml Fuel System cleaner on a full tank or go full terraclean
(my friend got 6bhp just from doing that alone)
3.
Replace vacuum line with heavy duty silicone

1.

2.

3.

Re: Standard exhaust and Downpipe vs Aftermarket parts
Cats pull 2-4 BHP so you'd at least see those gains on stock tune with the exhaust

= efficiency

Re: Insurance
Insurance quotes for my Rev5 NA was huge
(1000+) with my 1 speeding ticket and being 24.
Adrian Flux being
£6000 for some reason, even the girl on the phone laughed.
However Tesco quoted me
£630 and have been great.
They just seem to insure it as a 2.0 Toyota and not a mid engine sports car

Re: Head Unit Swap
Cheers for all the advice, I bought an adapter and soldered he wire together just matching the colours and it works a charm. The cheap Ebay unit I tried first had an awful whine and also left the aerial up at all times even when the radio was turned off so I've popped in an old Alpine unit I had and...

Head Unit Swap
Got an old head unit off a mate (2nd photo) and wanting to either make it the primary head unit or if its easier I'll just run it into the old head unit replacing the old CD player. Is there an easy way to do this using adapters or will I have to use crimps and a crimping tool and just match up the ...

Re: Exhaust advice for Rev5 N/A
I will do exactly that! I think it's near new but will still give it a good clean.
Keeping the black guard over it though, trying to keep as stock as possible, more of a restoration guy than a modder

Re: Exhaust advice for Rev5 N/A
That looks really smart! Nice and stock looking.
Could be what I'm looking for.
However I have an offer on an almost new Mongoose with res from a friend.
What would you advise?

Re: Exhaust advice for Rev5 N/A
My first MR2 was an NA. Thought the Mongoose was a quality, stock looking exhaust. Also fairly quiet. Cheers! Good to know! Did you fit an upgraded manifold? Did you notice any BHP gains? Mine was bolted onto a 3SFE engine, so power gains would have been un-noticeable! Mine was cat back. ...

Exhaust advice for Rev5 N/A
Hi There I'm looking to replace the back box (first) then save some more and buy the manifold early next year. What is a good stock looking back box that will give more of a sporty tone without being too loud? (no fart/bass cannons) My stock back box is just becoming welding patchwork haha. The mong...

Re: Some noob questions for MR2 Newbie
I sorted the squealing noise, seemed to be a slipping belt when starting up from cold.
All sorted! Exhaust is all welded up and the mechanic said it's the mesh on the gear box that could be the issue.
The 3rd to 1st drops are when rolling into a junction, not for thrashing it!

Re: Some noob questions for MR2 Newbie
Thanks for all the advice, had another go in it today, the power steering makes noises at the front near the pump and then the horrible noise stars usually when doing full lock to get out of parking spaces. The stick gear issue I've tried to narrow down. Basically if I'm rolling at 20 towards a set ...
