Re: Rev 3 cambelt kit N/A

Should have guessed it would be TCB... thanks. Didn't know if there was a club special deal or such.

Rev 3 cambelt kit N/A

Hi folks,

About time I swapped out the cambelt on my N/A SW20. Where's the best(cheapest) dealer to get a kit? I assume I'll need the tensioner, idler, and belt obviously.

Thanks
Stew

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Poor cold starting- requires cranking for 20 seconds +

Update, ish.

The car seems to start MUCH better when warmed up. Nearly as it should. So, MAF or IAT?

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Poor cold starting- requires cranking for 20 seconds +

No, but the spark is good on them.

I'm thinking now it's fuel pressure related.

[Mk2] [NA] Poor cold starting- requires cranking for 20 seconds +

In a follow on from my previous issue which I now believe was a blocked exhaust, I am having bad starting issues. Cam and ignition timing are spot on. Fuel is good. Spark is good. So, I have to crank it over for 20 seconds or more and work the throttle. Then it splutters, obviously because I've put ...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Rev 3 engine issues- dizzy exploded, replaced, not running right

I had a suspicion. I remember looking under the back end when the dizzy blew and the cat was steaming hot. So I took the exhaust off just now. It runs and revs free as you like. I mean really good. So problem found. And now my car sounds like a super 2000 race car. I'm never fitting an exhaust again.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Rev 3 engine issues- dizzy exploded, replaced, not running right

Further- Cam and ignition timing are spot on. Had a play with ingition timing a bit and start up is still an issue, but has improved, but there is still a mass load of hesitation around 4500rpm. Like it's flooding/holding back. No fault codes are displayed though as I said, the light just flashes wi...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Rev 3 engine issues- dizzy exploded, replaced, not running right

Error codes are an issue. The check engine light just flashes with a paper clip in the SST location.

All plugs have good spark.

Just checking cambelt now.

[Mk2] [NA] Rev 3 engine issues- dizzy exploded, replaced, not running right

Hi all. 96 MR2. UK car. Had the rotor arm grenade itself and the cap. I didn't know what had happened and turned it over a few times out of frustration. So, replaced cap and rotor arm. The issue now is that it starts really bad if left a while, and doesn't rev past 4.5k, and up to that point it flat...

Are turbo and non turbo exhausts the same?

Sorry, I have looked but it's early and I may have just missed it...

So, are they the same basic back box? Connecting pipe may be different, and I know the down pipe is obviously.

Chassis welding- Cambs

Can anyone recommend a good place to have a bit of chassis welding done in Cambridgeshire area?

I've looked, but can't find any posts suggesting much.

Thankfully it's not too much, just a little bit of patch work.

Re: dam! and lucky to be alive !

I had an OE scissor jack snap on me whilst I was jacking up a car. Thankfully I wasn't under the car and the wheel was still on, but damn, that scared me a bit. Since then, all OE jacks are ditched.

Re: Battery drain/won't start when damp

Since this all started, I've taken to disconnecting the battery when left for a few hours, no drain. Have now disconnected the alarm, leaving the battery connected, and get minimal drain, about what you'd expect when the car is left outside in the cold. So, could well be the alarm. I'm going to reco...

With the engine running around 2000rpm, the battery voltage was 14.6v.

Re: Battery drain/won't start when damp

I'm back... So, I stuck the battery on charge Monday lunch time, got home, shoved it in, and the car fired. OK....... Checked voltages at battery, Alt plugs, fuses, etc. All reading ok (Battery shows 14.6 when engine running, 12.5 ish when off). So I've taken to disconnecting the battery if I'm leav...

Re: Battery drain/won't start when damp

Hey folks, Battery is fully charged/checked. Tried two. Same situation. Car is fitted with a Microscan alarm. I might try disabling this. With a fully charged battery, nothing else running, I turn the key, the starter fires but then dies off right away with a dimming of the dash lights. I did check ...

Battery drain/won't start when damp

Morning folks, Car is a 1989 mk1b. Only had since xmas. Issues are it won't start or the battery drains. For example the car was left over night Friday, it 'just' started on Saturday, I did some garage stuff, tried to start again, and nothing...then about an hour later it chugged over and fired. So ...
