Ok thanks Peter, I'll take the drop link with me to check, but at least that's a starting point.

Front drop link thread size

Anyone know what the thread size is for the bolts on the drop links? I need a replacement nut. Had some suspension work done and the garage were lazy and used cheap drop links off a second set of struts I had, instead of using the originals as I asked. The ones I'm putting back on have a hex key in ...

Stalling issue

I was stuck in traffic on the way to Gatwick (M25) and my car must have stalled close to 40 times if not more in 3 1/2 hours. It was hot, traffic was barely moving and it was a total pita. Thankfully it started every time I turned the key. It was absolutely fine under load, then whenever I had the c...

Re: 22 years old and going strong

So another 2 years on and she is going strong. Passed this morning with only a couple advisories on front tyres and front spring corrosion. Good excuse to get new suspension, although I was looking at doing a complete upgrade sometime this year anyway.

Re: Trouble shooting handbrake issue

All sorted, and didn't need to buy anything. Re-greased the connection that MartG suggested to check and made sure it was moving freely. Bled the system, and reset the left rear caliper making sure I got the piston as close to the pad as I could. Just need to get it booked in for MOT now. Thanks aga...

Re: Trouble shooting handbrake issue

The pads and disks look fine, ill change the cable and see if that sorts it. I think the caliper itself is fine. I had the same issue last year as I got an advisory for lack of effort on the near side. Using the brake pedal it was fine. So all points to the cable, just didn't want to start buying pa...

Trouble shooting handbrake issue

Hi, Adjusting the handbrake in preparation for my car's MOT. I have completed all the necessary steps; slackened cables removed cables from calipers wound in the piston and back out atleast 180 deg pumped the brake pedal reconnected cables and tightened (making sure the lever on the caliper isn't mo...

Re: Reverse light problem

Good to know that it's not illegal to drive like this, what's the best way to eliminate either of the above? Need to get under the car to check the to check the gear box. Where is the reverse light switch located?

Reverse light problem

Hi all, Was informed that my reverse lights were out, thought it was strange that they both went out at the same time, but assumed it would just be the bulbs. Thought i would double check which type i needed to save a return trip if i got the wrong ones. This is where i found both bulbs were fine, i...

Anyone recommend a garage near MK?

As above looking for a garage to change the clutch on my MK1 near Milton Keynes, that isn't going to charge me astronomical prices. Failing that i will try and do it myself....Its just having the time to do it, and having the car off the road in the mean time.

Re: Strut Braces..

Good to know that when i have the money i can get one, look forward to seeing the sunroof model version. I have a T-bar brace on my sunroof model, however i rarely take off the sunroof, so a non issue really. Would be good to have matching braces though. Keep up the good work. :thumleft:

Will these be available for a limited time period Paul? Or made to order? Would love a rear one but funds wont allow for that atm and wouldn't want to miss out.

Re: Aluminium Flywheels

Thats not too bad. Keep us updated with regards to what discount they would offer on a groub buy. I really want a new set of golf clubs though so that would eat into the budget for them, just hope i win euro millions tomorrow and problem solved :thumleft:
