Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Hesitation at 2000rpm

So to go with my ongoing high idle problem this has reared its ugly head to the point where when cold only it will not rev past 3000rpm, starts bucking and missing at around 2000-2500 on a gentle throttle and then wont accelerate at all ](*,)

Re: rev3 cold idle speeds

I'm in the trade and I still cant fix it, with all the equipment in the world, I very mucj doubt a 'specialist' will do any better. I've lost heart with it now

Re: rev3 cold idle speeds

Spoke too soon, idle too high again and even the hesitation is back. It's about time I gave up on it

Re: rev3 cold idle speeds

Put a Honda pcv valve i had laying about, 1500rpm cold idle! My pcv valve seems very rattly. Generally drives better too....

Re: rev3 cold idle speeds

Green ecu sensor changed. Timing at 10deg, it almost dies when i bridge te1 and e1 though which is odd

I'm going to vent the pcv to atmosphere today see if that helps

Re: rev3 cold idle speeds

Ok the only thing that's causing the high idle is the iscv, blocking the pipe to it stops the engine. It also relates to the dip when revved as if the idle speed is forced lower it revs fine... So what initiates the raised idle....coolant temp, water temp in iscv, possibly air temp? Ive replaced isc...

Re: rev3 cold idle speeds

Usually 800 bit sometimes sits just above 1000 and then drops a few seconds later. Tps is fine and also swapped a complete throttle body

Re: rev3 cold idle speeds

I cleaned mine twice and replaced it, made no odds. I know a few others have high idle but surely 2000 isn't normal....it drives itself!

Re: rev3 cold idle speeds

To add mines an na, a little reassuring to hear others similar idle. I worked on a rev2 today which sat solid at 1400

If i block my iscv hose it stalls instantl. I've also swapped complete throttle bodies with identical idle speeds just seems to hammer the clutch?

rev3 cold idle speeds

From first start of the day what is your idle speed.... And do you get a clean rev on a short sharp throttle blip? Mine starts at 1500 and climbs to 2000. Im sure its not right along with the very slight dip when I blip the throttle as if there is a momentary loss of power, this only happens when th...

Re: Emissions Problems AGAIN!!!!

It would seem this car is doomed on emissions..... Failed emissions again last week, with high lambda and high co2 again. Again got code 25 stored. Cold idle is 2000rpm which id given up trying to fix but I think its all related. Currently its had the following: Dizzy cap Rotor arm Dizzy complete Ig...

Phone apps are crap. You can get db meters cheap if you are worried, worth it if it saves you from losing out on a trackday

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Stock Rev2 3SGTE: 487.3bhp & 364.6lbft, 2.2 bar & 8100RPM

Fair play to you and considering its only a drag car it doesnt really matter but if you are running it for 10sec's at a time I doubt you will see temps high enough to kill a piston with a half decent map. The cylinder pressures are however a different story which it seems to be coping with so far A ...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Engine Hesitation Under WOT at High Revs - Rubbish MPG During Normal Use

Okay, well I'm reporting back today regardless. Maybe this will be of help to someone in the future, like Jem's thread in 2010 was. Today I have carried some tests on the MAP sensor in accordance with what is listed in the 3SGE service manual. Initially I tested the feed to the sensor itself; it ca...
