Just as a matter of interest, the Jap spec engine has a different shaped piston and is slightly higher compression. When I rebuilt mine, the Jap piston wasn't available in oversizes, so I fitted UK spec ones. They're a very slightly different shape.
I should have taken a side by side pic.

Re: Where to buy 86.5mm cast 3SGE pistons?
Little late now, but Toyota DO supply o/s pistons.
When I rebuilt my 3sge back in 2003 they were not listed for the jap spec engine, but were for the UK spec one. They worked out around £200 for the set, but don't know if they'd still be available.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Rev1 to Rev3 Engine?
If you don't have the loom or ecu, the other option is to use the injectors and sensors from your rev1 on the rev3 block.
Mine is installed that way and all works absolutely fine.
You will need the downpipe and manifolds as already mentioned, but the remainder of the exhaust will bolt up.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] daunting clutch change
I've never done it without dropping the engine completely. TBH by the time you've got the three mounts on te gearbox released the last one is not much more work! It can be very tricky to get the gearbox back onto the engine once the new clutch is in, so I'd be inclined to pull the engine and gearbox...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] please help mr2 knightmare!
Oh, and also, yes it absolutley will stop you being able to select a gear. It's the clutch release so without it the clutch won't disengage, it's like trying to change gear without pushing the pedal at all. When you get it all back together you'll need to bleed it (exactly the same as brakes) which ...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] please help mr2 knightmare!
doesn't matter if the piston comes out. Just clean it all up and put it back together. As long as you haven't torn any seals when it twisted it'll be fine!
(I did the same thing last time I refitted one! )

Re: [Mk2] [NA] g-limited t-top
How serious is serious?
If you didn't do it yourself I'd take it straight back to where it was done.
It could be any number of things but sounds like something is loose. Probably not anything to do with the clutch though as it would happen in all gears then.

I agree it's not essential, but rev 1 do have a stagger. My 14"s were 6.5" Front and 7.0" back IIRC

Re: Problems with twosrus.co.uk??
Just to update this... In the end, I assumed that twosrus had gone to the wall, so started a paypal dispute to try and recover my money. (This was after a full calendar month of no response). At this point, Peter from SBits got in touch with me by email and it turned out that there was a mistake in ...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] creaking noises
It's actually not as bad as you'd think to fit. You remove the exhaust, the suspension can be unbolted from the subframe and swung clear to the side, and then you remove the rear engine mount. I think after that it drops down with just four very long bolts. You'd certainly be able to change it in a ...

Problems with twosrus.co.uk??
Hi guys, Ordered some suspension bushes from twosrus.co.uk earlier this month (the 5th) and still haven't heard or recieved anything, although they have taken the money (paypal) All the pictures have now disappeared from the site and I'm wondering if I've placed an order with a company that's disapp...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] cambelt change
I stick with genuine toyota parts for this sort of thing. The cost of the belt won't actually be that bad.
There's also a guide to doing it in the knowledge base if that's helpful.

If it's the same as a rev 1, which I think it is, I've got one which you can have for the cost of the postage. Swapped engine for a rev3 so it's just gathering cobwebs in the shed.

Guess you could just swap them left to right and repeat!!

There are the scare stories!! That's what prompted me to ask!
Depending on what actually happened to those wheels before they broke it may or may not be anything to worry about!

Light is good!!
My Mille Miglias look great, but weigh a ton and still got bent by a big pot hole.
I might by 5 this time as it's cheaper than changing the lot when you find your wheels discontinued!!
