Re: Front suspension lower arm body pick up with pictures - help needed.

A year on from this post the car has sat in the same state. Just put a battery on it and it started first time! Think I'm going to have to admit defeat on it and let it go. It's just too big a job and I don't have the time to do it. What's the best thing to do? EBay for spares or repair? Advert on h...

Hi

Thanks for your detailed reply. Your reply pretty much confirmed what I suspected although it's very sad to hear... :-(

Front suspension lower arm body pick up with pictures - help needed.

Hello all I had water getting into the driver's side footwell so I decided to investigate... On removing everything I found the two little holes responsible but I also found that the body end pick up point for the front suspension lower arm is really badly roted with a huge hole! http://s939.photobu...

Re: Engine turning over but car won't start

Update! The car started about an hour later with quite a bit of hesitation but then under load, so heavy acceleration, it stuttered and was juddery before picking up. Same again this morning. Car didn't start. Car started this evening but again after much hesitation. If there was moisture at the plu...

Engine turning over but car won't start

Hello Drove the car yesterday no problems. Went to start it this morning and the engine is turning over but it won't fire. It's not even getting close to firing, no spluttering or anything. The cabin seemed to fill with engine fumes as well as I was turning the car over. There's fuel in it. Any idea...

Iridium spark plugs?

Hello.

I need to fit new spark plugs into my MR2. Went on the NGK website and there is an iridium option available.

Normal plugs look like they'll cost about £12 (BCPR6EY-11)
Iridium ones will cost about £27. (BCPR6EIX-11)

Prices off e-bay.

Is it worth the extra cost?

Thanks.

electrical problems

Hello. Driving home this evening I noticed that when I had my lights on my dash board was flickering ever so slightly. Added to this when I got out to check my head and tail lights were doing the same thing. It's only faint but it's still noticeable. This follows on from this morning when, as I was ...

Absolute pleasure dealing with Gary. He certainly knows his stuff and carried out the work to an excellent standard. Hopefully it won't be too long before I take the car back up to him to get my rear arches done.

Thanks for the recommendation folks! :thumleft: :thumleft:

Re: Crank shaft pully problem?

Hi guys. Took the pulley off today and even though it didn't look too bad from below it was obviously knackered once off the car. Put the new one on, thanks to Gary for sorting me out with one, and I now have a nice new gap between the sump again! The car is running nicely again. Thanks chaps. <a hr...

Re: Crankshaft pulley

Nothing in the local scrap yard as most Toyotas are sold straight away to a bloke in Nigeria apparently!

That set on e-bay is for a lightweight set (£90) coming from Poland. :-k

Crankshaft pulley

Hello.

Anybody know where i could get one before Sunday please?

I rang Mr T and he wanted £240 + VAT so i wont be doing that.

Are new after market ones available or is it a case of getting a second hand one?

I'm in Derby and could go pick it up if not too far.

Cheers.

Re: Crank shaft pully problem?

Are you able to just crack the big nut inside it and take it off (using the pulley puller) or do you have to remove other things as well?

Re: Crank shaft pully problem?

Thanks for the post BigBobo. They are great pictures!

It's put my mind at rest somewhat then.

Is it a major / big job to change the crankshaft pulley then?

Re: Crank shaft pully problem?

I've been out giving the car a good coat of looking again this morning and I'm still none the wiser. One minute I think all 3 pulleys look lined up but then the next I'm thinking it can't be right that the bottom one touches the sump. Has anybody got their car available to have a quick look undernea...

Re: Draining coolant and changing water pump.

Yeah forgot about these little blighters so had to nip to B&Q for a couple of new ones from the plumbing section. Hopefully they'll be ok!
