Im thinking more along the lines on the metal strips that fix the bumper skin to inside panel, fix it to the inside of the wing etc etc...

Part Numbers for Bumper Strips.

Well the good news is the job to rebuild the front on my car after my little accident is going quite well! After much cursing and bashed knuckles i have removed the bumper skin to reveal a lovely bent and fantastically rusted bumper bar! Been to see Mr T and ordered a nice shiny new replacement! Whi...

Re: Aaargh! Front end damage. Where do i start?

Thanks for all the help and advice so far guys. Consensus to buy a brand new bumper bar seems sensible. Now, as for the bumper skin, it's gone 'wavy' in the front middle but would that be pushed back into shape with the fitting of a new bumper bar, etc, and everything lined up in the right place? If...

Re: Aaargh! Front end damage. Where do i start?

boltwise some people have loads kicking round, try one of the breakers (they usually have too many and scrap them). as per bar. its only an MOT failure if its dangerouslyrusty. so if its missing, it can't be rusty and therefore cant fail an MOT. :D Ah ha! Still i think i will go for the piece of mi...

Re: Aaargh! Front end damage. Where do i start?

this is important and will cheer you up. its good news your bumper bar was rusty. Why? most the MR2 challenge cars run without the bumper bar at the front. and in head on crashs they survive just fine and better than if they had one in. this is because the ones with the bar can bend the actual chas...

Re: Aaargh! Front end damage. Where do i start?

Hello. Well unfortunately i have to report that when giving my MR2 a little too much juice when leaving an island i lost the back end and promptly hit a crash barrier front on and cause a bit of damage to the front of my beloved car. Ooops - easily done if you are not careful. Wet road, crap tyres,...

Re: Aaargh! Front end damage. Where do i start?

Start by stripping the bumper assembly from the car and assessing exactly what you need. Then the good people here will rally around and come up with everything you need. As a starting point what colour is your car and is it an early or late one? Yeah that should be fun, its rather bent and rusty! ...

Hello. Clutch slave cylinder.

Hello! I believe my clutch slave cylinder has gone, or the seal for this, at least as my clutch pedal has suddenly started dropping to the floor and i can no longer change gears. This means my MR2 is off the road at the moment which makes me sad. I was wondering where the best place to pick one of t...

Re: Wheel nut thread size

Hiya. Those MX5 wheel nuts that you have pictured are exactly the same ones that i now have on my car. Obviously you would need to check them against your wheels that they are long enough for the stud. That are actually quite deceptive in terms of how long they are, as they look quite short but fit ...

Re: Wheel nut thread size

Hello. I've done the same recently and posted a similar thread (no pun intended). The wheel nuts i have used are from a Mazda MX5 MK1 and fit perfectly. They are also stainless steel and so look very smart. Mazda used the same wheel nuts throughout the range so any off a Mazda will be fine. The only...

Steering Wheel Change.

Hello people.

I'm thinking about changing the steering wheel in my Mk1 to put a slightly smaller one into it.

Was just wondering if anybody knows where i can get a decent one from with the correct 'boss' etc etc for a reasonable price as i don't really know much about this.

Thanks.

Re: I'm 22, where can i get cheap modifed car insurance?

Hiya. I'm with Admiral and they were by far the cheapest i could find. Believe me i looked into this very extensively! Watch out for the high excess that apply to the premiums (both voluntary and compulsory) because these can make a big difference to what you might have to pay in the event of an acc...

What size wheel nuts on a MK3?

Hello.

Thinking about putting a set of MK3 alloys on my 1988 MK1 and was wondering what size diameter wheel nuts they use and where i can get them from.

Thanks.

Re: MK3 wheels on a MK1?

Thanks people. Looking at that picture of the darker MK1 i'm having second thoughts about putting 15's on the front and 16's on the rear. I think the 16's look a bit too big, and with it affecting the handling i'm moving towards 15's all round. I think Jimi's looks fantastic! Anybody know where i ca...

Re: MK3 wheels on a MK1?

Shouldn't think you'd have any probs with them. Though would recommend running 195/45/16s on the rear really as otherwise it'll feel a bit overtyred on the rear. Ok thanks. Apparently the rears are 6.5J as opposed to the front which are 6J. Would that tyre size you suggested be alright for the rear...
