Re: Alternator.

Thanks for the advice!

Will a MK2 alternator fit if the round plug is the same?

Alternator.

Hello.

It looks like my alternator has packed up as i'm getting the dashboard lights on.

Going to make a trip to the scrap yard next Saturday hopefully. Does anybody know what other cars would have the same alternator on and what i should look out for?

Thanks.

Re: Dilemma!

Well the MX5 is advertised on the owners club forum!

I know i prefer the MR2 and i always have, that's why i didn't sell it but there are definitley some areas of concern for me. That's why when it's taxed and insured i'd still like to take it somewhere for the once over to see if it's worth keeping.

Re: Dilemma!

I'm quite attached to this car though having owned it for the past 6 years and i feel like i know it now so i wouldn't want to just sell it and buy another one.

Who do the MR2 people take theirs to in the Midlands area?

Re: Dilemma!

The rust spots i'm mostly concerned about are underneath where i can see the floor pan cracking etc... so getting pictures to show the rust will be difficult. Even though i've just paid to have both sills done i'm not convinced that these are the best quality repair either as the body kit hides them...

Dilemma!

Hello. I have two cars currently. One is a Mazda MX5 mk1 that is in excellent condition and the other is my MR2 mk1 that deep down i prefer but is not in as good condition. I have to sell one of these cars. After buying the Mazda off my brother a year ago i was supposed to sell the MR2 but i could n...

Re: Sills

So really i need to be getting underneath the car do i to check the underside where it joins the floor pan? What about towards the back of the sill where the small bit of body kit wraps under the metal at the bottom of the wheel arch? This is definitley not solid as i can move it with my fingers. Is...

Sills

Hello all. I recently had some repair work done to my MR2, part of this included welding to both sills. One of the sills appears to have been tap / spot welded where what looks like a plate has been put in. The plate has been put in where the body kit sits over the top of it, not the underside. Is t...

Front anti-roll bar

Hello.

Where one side of my anti roll bar at the front goes into the chassis has rotted.

Do i pay to get the welding done or just take it off? Would i notice much difference?

Thanks.

Re: Clutch change.

Typical! :D

My MR2 is a 1988.

With me selling the car i dont really want to spend a fortune on it. Especially after i've just spend about £400 getting it through an MOT.

Re: Clutch change.

Hmmmn... right.

Did that £300 include the new clutch plate part or was that extra?

My quote was just for labour so i'm guessing at least £100 for the part too?

Clutch change.

Hello all. My clutch has finally given up on me so i'm going to have to change the clutch plate. How long should this job take? How much should it cost please? A local mechanic has quoted me £300 just for labour. Is this any good? I'm having to sell the car so i'd rather not spend a fortune on it bu...

Reduction in quality could explain the rumours about Magnex going bust then?

Can anyone confirm this?

Magnex Exhaust

Hello everyone. I bought a Magnex Exhaust from Fensport about this time last year and it seems to have developed a fault. I think one (or more) of the baffler plates has come loose. Does anybody know the best plan of action when it comes to sending it back and how the lifetime guarantee works? My br...

The beast breathes again!

Hello. Great news people! The car is ok again. Woo who. It had cut out on me while i was driving along and so had to be towed home. My brother and i spent yesterday investigating with thought that the timing belt had snapped. What had actually happened was the crackshaft sprocket had stripped the te...

This sounds like a tricky little job! I've managed to source all of the bits and so weather permitting will be giving it a crack tomorrow Tension pulley £38 Belt £15.95 Gaskets £6 All from a local independent motor factors. I've also got my self a puller £10 from Machine Mart as this sounds like a n...
