MK1b Radio Wiring diagram (wire colours - head unit)

Hi Just about to fit a new head unit, but as the previous owner had the original Toyota head unit and a cd head unit both wired in together, all the original plugs have been cut off and I don’t want to trace all the wires thru the relays that have been fitted!!!! Does anyone have the wiring colours ...

Re: Rear end Shunt

I fitted a UK spec one fine, no problems whatever. I have one for sale if you are interested (car died a long time ago), complete with all brackets, the polystyrene filler and metal support if you have done more damage than just the cosmetics. What colour is your car, mine was bright red (95 spec co...

Re: Cost of Shot Blasting Alloys

If you know a local garage that will de-tyre for you cheaply, I used an industrial shotblast place.

£60 to blast and powder coat 4 off 15" alloys, bargain, get the yellow pages out and go visiting.

Limited choice of colours however if you want something unusual.

Re: MKI Engine Swap - Complete

Well done in getting it swapped, there are always a few "issues" to sort once the new lump is in place, I was only running on 2 cylinders on my first attempt to start. Looks much better to use a vehicle lift rather than what I had to do, perhaps I'll have to invest in one :) http://www.pho...

Re: Lockups?

I wanted one too around the Warrington / Helsby area in the NW. Could not find one easily (web / phone book), but I did end up putting flyers thru peoples doors and had some replies. The car I was going to put in it fell thru so I did not get one in the end, but if anyone here has one cheep I would ...

Re: LED dashboard lights

Anyone considered just using glass paint on the orginal bulbs. I did that on mine and they worked fine, did all my bulbs in the dash including the ones in my CD player!!!! You don't get any benefit of longer life or brighter LED's, but you get the better light spread of bulbs and a much easier / che...

Re: MK1 MR2

Good luck with the swap, theres not that much to it really, just take it easy and be nice and safe. Just make sure you get your back end up as high as possible so you can drop the whole lump out. http://www.photobox.co.uk/album/880123 Any problems put a message on the board and I'm sure someone will...

Re: MK1 MR2

The engine will fit with all the standard mountings, but you will also have to swap the ECU if you are using the late wiring loom on the engine, or alternately put the early wiring onto the late engine. Here is a post with some more info ref the wiring http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=75...

Re: MR2 clock templates

The Toyota dials balance the light by having a pattern on the rear of them. I managed to just get the numbers to light up on mine by printing a number of inverted ones on overhead projector sheets and sticking these behind the white paper dials (I can not remember how many I used however - 3 or 4). ...

Re: MKI ECU Differences

Just my bit on this. I fitted a early engine + early engine loom + early ECU into a late car, only hard bit was that the standard car loom in the boot and the loom from the ECU did not meet, therefore I made a connection loom up to bridge the gap and it all works fine. The only thing my car does not...

Re: Supercharger help

Oh Next IMOC mini "how to" meet.....but I would say that as I'm just in Warrington. I'm odd and have done a SC to NA conversion (but the SC was broken and one day it will get fixed and put back in), my first point of advice if doing an engine swap would be to get the back end in the air as...

Re: Cardboard MR2 models.....old link anyone???

The top one is a MK2 also, I know it looks very angular and MK1 like, but spot the side vents MK2, and rear lights rev3+

Cheers

MK1 – Drawing - WANTED

Hi I’m after a drawing of a MK1, shown from the side, and one from the front (or rear / top) with a few dimensions on. I’ve just dug out some plans for a clam shell type cover I was going to do for my MK2 (plans not complete so I never got around to making it), but now I think I’m going to design a ...

Cardboard MR2 models.....old link anyone???

Hi Back when IMOC was on e-groups and there were only a few hundred members, one guy (sorry, forgot who) put up a link to some cardboard models of MK2’s, these were form a Jap site and you could print & cut them out to make your own models. Back in them days I did not bother to see if there were...

Re: MR2 clock templates

Hi I’ve done a fair but of work on the 110mph MK2 dials in the past, these were based on the IMOC-UK ones uploaded on the old site, I’ll dig out the files over Easter and upload them to a photo site for reference (awaiting somewhere better to upload them). I’m also looking at the MK1 ones now, if I ...
