Re: 2GR options for 400-500bhp

I've not really considered any other v6 no. The evora s runs 420bhp on the 2GR with the exact same internals as the lexus version. I'm only after 400 at the wheels but admittedly i'd probably be happy enough with 420 at the flywheel. My low boost setting just now is 330@ the wheels and that's more t...

Re: 2GR options for 400-500bhp

Had some time to scour for info today. Managed to find a BONE STOCK 2gr turbo running 22psi and making 740bhp!! The guys run it for 4 months at 640bhp (not sure how much boost) with no issue whatsoever. Unopened engine from the junkyard is how he described it. So certainly something to think about.

Re: Dyno results. 420@ the hubs.

That's something i thought a lot about at the time to be honest! However, I am so sold on putting a 2GR in there. I really do want that massive engine sat in the bay :) Having a 2 litre engine no longer appeals to me.

Re: 2GR options for 400-500bhp

Can't even begin to wrap my head around that! Sounds cool though! Just been chatting with my mate again about this 2gr stuff today. So there's a supercharger kit for the evora that runs 460bhp without issue so i'm almost tempted to just run the motor stock. The Evora has the same CR etc. The only th...

Re: 2GR options for 400-500bhp

Yeah it is a bit of an unknown quantity, I'll deffo be doing pistons and rods, I believe the head bolts need done on them too. I will say this...My turbo blows out fairly cool air under 21ps. I've seen a mk3 turbo 2gr doing 680bhp at 15psi so I am hoping that the turbo won't be too much of an issue ...

Re: 2GR options for 400-500bhp

Cheers Ashley. Not after crazy power. Probably just 400 at the wheels again but with a big motor making it effortlessly rather than pushing a small motor. After some research yesterday the 2gr can do 490bhp on stock pistons at 7psi however having stock pistons near their limits would always be at th...

Re: 2GR options for 400-500bhp

It is. From what i can find the supercharger required is £5300. Could make a nice turbo kit for less. In fact, Exhaust and inlet manifold off the shelf is £1930. And I already have a turbo. So quite a bit cheaper.

2GR options for 400-500bhp

As in title. Me and a friend are actually both looking to do this. We'd like to go down the supercharged route but the costs involved are on par with a decent turbo set up! Is there a supercharger for under £4k that could do around 400 at the wheels? What kind of boost can a 2GR take, I've beard rod...

Re: Dyno results. 420@ the hubs.

Cheers dude, As said, Repair the 3sgte, run it while building the 2gr! I'm certainly not trying to discredit the 3s. It's a phenomenal power plant. Just now what I want!

Don't engage dude. This user was meant to banned donkeys ago. Why he's managed to pop up is beyond me (always on my threads too). He's a moron. Hence my snotty post.

Re: Dyno results. 420@ the hubs.

280whp in mr2 conversions - near enough. First guy to do it got 275whp and created the kits to make it all work 2gr-fe 280whp in MR2 conversions lol You can get more then that out of stock 3sgte easily without spending half a million. If you read that build carefully you'll find that he has to make...

Re: Dyno results. 420@ the hubs.

So....from my research (reading what Paul woods has achieved) the 2GR with decent exhaust, filter and cams can do around 350 and I believe Lotus have eeked 370bhp from them. However, Those figures are irrelevant to me, I'll be going fully forged and turbo charged. And absolutely 100% buy another car...

Re: Dyno results. 420@ the hubs.

Quite possible but the point still remains that it makes way more power lower down than a 3sgte ever could. I feel I've outgrown 4 cylinders, I had a 500bhp 335i and the low down grunt was phenomenal. That's not to say the mr2 wouldn't win a race but I'm after high power and maximum driveability fro...

Re: Dyno results. 420@ the hubs.

No idea, Just going on what I remember Paul Woods saying. It's ridiculously high compared to a 3sgte at the same revs though! I'll be buying an R8 this year as well so sure I can put them head to head :D:D Either way it's comparing apples to oranges, The 2GR is also lighter than the 3sgte and sounds...

Re: Dyno results. 420@ the hubs.

630bhp from a 2 litre four cylinder is always gonna feel different from 630 in a v6. The 2gr without a turbo is something ridiculous like 250bhp at 2k rpm. There's no turbo 2 litre making that kind of low down grunt. My friend is toying with a NA 2gr over his 2.2 HKS built 700-800bhp 3sgte. The mr2 ...

Re: Dyno results. 420@ the hubs.

It's the low down grunt the 2 litre really lacks. I mean with a ct20 the drivability is perfect but just lacks the power I want from it. What I've learned over this build is there's no replacement for displacement! I've never heard that phrase ring so true!! Big lazy v6 not even close to its limits ...

Re: Dyno results. 420@ the hubs.

Na none at all. Not had time to get the engine out :( I do have an update on my plan though! Gonna repair the car (now I'm typing this I feel I've maybe posted this already) and run it while building a forged 2GR on the side. 2litre engines simply aren't suited for 500bhp. I don't mean that they wil...

Re: Dyno results. 420@ the hubs.

Ach i'm not overly fussed about it. Engine's out this week. It's either head gasket or the block. I do suspect the block though. I don't know why there wasn't a limp mode mapped into the ecu but rest assured there will be this time. Car's off the road for winter anyway and because my engine bay is s...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Ct fitment hybrids?

Very interesting. At least I have options I guess. 380bhp would be more than enough. I'm at 480bhp just now and it really is just too much ha!
