Re: Mk2 2gr supercharged

Paul, Yep, if you're happy with the OEM calibration level, and don't need the additional functionality (e.g. traction control is probably on a big deal if you drive a lot in poor / variable road conditions) then its an unnecessary expense.. On the calibration, I guess it really depends on how much t...

Re: Mk2 2gr supercharged

Interesting indeed, although with the stock Lotus ECU being mappable I wonder what the point is? It's one of the reasons I went for full Lotus Evora ECU/loom etc I presume if you want an open source ECU with all the additional feature it offers.. Variable slip traction control and launch control wo...

Re: Mk2 2gr supercharged

What ECU are you using Paul?

I ask as I seen this while browsing for something else:

https://www.scs-delta.co.uk/product-page/lotus-evora

Not cheap granted, but then for an (almost) PnP harness with a base calibration, and spec, its pretty interesting for the 2GR posse..

Fitted some Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 2's, and they are excellent, especially in the wet, and priced very competitively - pretty much the same as T1-R's, but a far superior (newer) tyre..

On a less ludicrous note, this has popped up on eBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1999-TOYOTA-MR2-GT-T-Bar-16V-GOLD-/151431919043?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item23420bb5c3 Rare colour as I understand it! That's lovely, and I might have been interested in that.. Strange though - its a UK Rev 5, in (wh...

Re: Newbie went to see Rev 5 today - advice needed!

The one mature lady owner doesn't know anything about MR2's.. £750 max I'd say.. That way if on further investigation the sills are shot, or something else goes, you could recoup most of that from selling various Rev5 bits.. You need 225/50/15 rears (go check the price!). Leave the cambelt IMO - its...

Re: tyres

Is it just us, though? For the rears, I think so. most cars with tyres as wide as 225 have a larger diameter or sidewall. The selection is representative of the demand unfortunately! I think some classic 911 uses the same 225-50-15 tyre, but that's about it, odd size. We are lucky Toyo still make t...

Free TOMs rear bumper / tubby engine cover - Aberdeen

Toms replica rear bumper in black, minor damage (spider web on corner) but really just needs respray. Excellent fitment (Neos I think?) White turbo engine cover. No rain tray. Both free to collector in Aberdeen - absolutely no postage, so please don't ask, I don't have the facilities. Please let me ...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] MK3 Steering Wheel DIY Red Stitching

Ah ok, apologies, must be a different set up.

I thought it more simple than that, as my previous Rev4 G-Limited (NA) was a straight forward swap with a Mk3 steering wheel, adaptor harness and a celica gen 6 airbag like this one:

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Twin Turbo/Twin Charging

There's a compound charged Lotus Exige that won its class in the UK Time Attack series last year IIRC. It basically uses a Honda K20a engine / gearbox (heavily modified) with a Eaton M62 providing low rpm torque, and a large turbo GT35-something to provide ~600bhp and plenty torque. This is a track ...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] MK3 Steering Wheel DIY Red Stitching

Nice work, but why not just fit the Mk3 airbag unit to the existing Rev5 JDM steering wheel? It just needs a small adaptor harness available cheaply from Toyota. The mk3 (and Gen 7 Celica and IS200) steering wheel are essentially the same but with different colour stitching IIRC. I fitted a gen7 Cel...

Re: What does a mk2 na rev5 weigh?

1220 -1240kg for a sunroof model Rev5 is about right.

As above, add roughly ~20-25kg for the T-Bar option.

Add ~40kg for the turbo.

Re: FULLY FORGED - New pics of the car (page36) + 1/4 mile times

The BEAMS Rev 5 was my old car who sold it to Nikk back in the day (2006 I think)..

Loved that car, and would have liked to have gotten it back at some stage.. Too slow (me, not the car)..

Re: [FINALIZED] Beams SW20 / £3000

 There have been two MR2's I have been interested in recently. Both at opposite ends of the british isles. I think for sure I would have bought this on impulse by now if it were nearer. Distance shouldn't be an issue if the right car comes along, especially in the UK. I've travelled up and d...

Re: Too wallowy on a spirited drive! Suspension discussion

If you don't want to compromise your the ride and compliance, and happy with they way the suspension performs in general, the your kind of answering your own question - stiffer / uprated ARBs would be the way forward :thumleft: They make the car feel much more alert to turn in and, predictably, allo...
